If "YouTuber" is a profession then yes.

Hint: It's not.
If enough people earn enough money to make a living from it then it's a profession or at least a job. Which is fine. It's not all just glorified blogging.

Is professional video gaming a sport
Pretty dumb that it's acquired the name 'eSports' but it's easier to say than "professional video gaming". I don't really get it myself; why would people watch people play video games? There's infinitely more joy in playing.

I also don't understand how Let's Play type YouTube videos are so oversaturated. There's gotta be hundreds of thousands of really shit channels with <30 subs and dozens of mundane Minecraft or Call of Duty commentary videos. I've only found one YouTuber whose content relates to video games who I actually find funny and entertaining and that's mostly off the back of creative sketches rather than just hackneyed commentary. Yet it's probably the most popular and oversaturated segment of the entire site. PewDiePie: 42,000,000 subscribers. What the?

CS tournament's are massive

Get over 80k to watch them play live

I don't get it

I am sure the same was said at the advent of sport. Why watch men kick a bag of air around when it is more fun to kick one?

The youtubers are huge!

Kids these days don't watch TV they watch youtube channels.

The top two Starcraft players in the world make $100-300k.

So yes, it's a job.

"progressive flag flyer" - is that a euphemism for campaigner?
Marr like Rucci should be on stage in operas because they both like to be operatic in their opinion on a situation. He can be a pompous, sarcastic prick.

But on Sunday Marr was the first journalist to call out Scott Morrison on something I have thought about since before he was made Minister Social Services minister and that he is Skirt Morrison because he very nicely hid behind the Military Skirt when he became Minister for Immigration and Border Protection. When he was opposition spokesman he loved to talk about border protection matters at any chance he could get, and when he became minister he hid behind the old "I can't talk about operational matters" skirt. Now that he is Treasuer he cant hide behind that skirt and has been caught out saying and doing nothing. There is a massive reform agenda and plenty he could be doing if he was as tough on tax dodgers and government waste as he was on asylum seekers/boat people. He's shown so far he's just not tough enough and smart enough to be tough on those who are smarter than boat people.

First thing he could do is finish off the work Costello should have done but bludged after about 2002 when the easy monies come in from the mining boom. Costello brought in the Income Tax Assessment Act in 1997 and brought across many of the provisions of the 1936 Act but to this day 1/3rd of the old Act still exists. Just transfer the bloody rest of it Skirt and show you can do something, you predecessors were too lazy to do.

YEAH!

DO NOTHING? NO WAY!
FIX THE IT DOUBLE A

Top CS team wins around 3 mill a year

Making it a job doesn't help me understand

It's virtual violence. Think of gladiatorial games...seeing someone get shot in the head as they are creeping around the corner by someone with a sniper rifle from across the map satiates the human psyche's primal hunting instinct. Then there is the strategy involved and the fact that the games are usually fast paced and intense. Add a monetary reward and betting to the equation and I totally understand it.

I put Esports into the same category as darts and 8-ball, fun to play but ****ing boring to watch and stretching the definition of the word "sport"
