It looks a bit forced, but to be fair, I thought the 2nd movie was as well. The original was excellent, may give this a look to see if it works, but feels a bit like the 2nd one (and I know this cannot be judged on 1 trailer, hence why I will give it a look to see).

They were warned repeatedly and yet they still made the movie. Most obvious flop since the Total Recall remake.

I actually did not mind the War Of The Worlds remake (Tom Cruise).

It'll flop because it's always going to be directly compared to the original and no remakes ever live up to original, classics. The reason cited will be because it was an all female cast.

Yeah I will pay that...it was decent...

What I don't get is that they've made a commendable effort to break down the gender barrier but then gone with the token black character again.

For me, the issue isn't that there are female Ghosbusters, it's that Sony have taken a much loved and established movie franchise and appeared to have done the equivalent of what George Lucas did to Indy. Although George had the sense to keep it a surprise until the end of the movie so everyone paid up. This is looking like it's going to flop - I can't see Sony getting much return on their $154 million investment.

Depends if you mean foreign to English language or straight up re-makes.

The Manchurian Candidate and Casino Royale spring to mind for mine.

I don't think it's BECAUSE they are female though, I think it's because it's change for the sake of it. The same way genre films seem to HAVE to break the genre/franchise conventions (eg. our zombies run very quickly!!! WOW!), why not just make a new film or establish a new genre of buddy movie?

I'm looking forward to it and will view it as a different, but familiar franchise.

Yeah no. `Change for the sake of it' to you is `Hey a film with female leads that isn't about a romance this is a positive change' to other people.

Because it is hard to get the opportunity to do with the studio system.

Peter Jackson's King Kong was a pretty awesome remake of a remake.

Ocean's 11 is great.

Oldboy is a good remake of a Korean original but doesn't surpass it.
