I still vote Stand By Me aka "The Body" from Different Seasons as the best film adapted from a King story.. I think he does too IIRC
That's because it was a short story. His novels get butchered too much when made into movies. No coincidence the best adaptations of his horror novels have been mini-series. Gives time to build the tension and flesh out the characters, rather than be just another hack and slash compressed into 90-120 minutes. The Stand is my favourite of his one's I've read that have made it to the screen. Short of missing Harold's redemption just before he dies it was spot on IMO.

I've never seen IT because I didn't want the inevitably crap movie to ruin my appreciation of the book.

No book adaptation is ever perfect. Every time a book I like is made into a TV show or movie I'm conflicted between seeing it come to life and various levels of rage depending on how good/bad it is.

I tend to have to see them twice. The first time to let being pissed off at the inevitable changes out, the second to enjoy (unless the changes were so bad/many a second time would just make me even angrier).

Whilst it's one of his best, it still had some shocking scenes in the novelisation.

His books always seemed to rehash the same archetypes: the drunk, the main character writer, the adulterer, an abusive spouse and always being set in Maine. Some of his works exclude these tropes however.

I've got Cell and Under the Dome, but I've just never modernised myself with his later works.

A lot of them are connected, that's why they have similar settings, it's a Kingverse.

I re-watched the "It" & "Tommyknockers" mini series' recently, they both pretty much suck lol liked em' as a teenager.

Maximum Overdive is awesome, and perhaps the best soundtrack written.

Watching the trailer with King talking about how he's been seeing other people make his movies, so he's going to show them how to so it properly.

Yeah, about that... The first and last time he directed a movie.

Apt Pupil, Thinner and Pet Sematary movies have aged pretty well IMO.
Apt Pupil is an underrated film think it was from Different Seasons too as well as Shawshank and Stand by me, all good stories and films and no supernatural themes interesting.

My favourite part of maximum overdrive is when the kid gets ran over by a steam roller that comes from nowhere after he stacks his bike for no reason.
