The "fought under that flag in two world wars" is bullshit as well.

Who are these dickheads? Scrap councils altogether and take Rob Lucas with them.

They fought in two wars under the australian flag and were often not allowed back into the country because that that point, they were not classified as citizens and in fact fell under the "flora and fauna" act.

Until the Australian flag is revised and contains Aboriginal elements, it's just a bad colonial memory. Seriously.

Why can't we have the southern cross and commonwealth star with the Aboriginal flag replacing the union jack?

finally found it.. ive searched for this many times when ever a flag debate has come up but finally i have found it.

I think indigenous peoples will always have their flag standing alone.

Shameless plug there's a thread about the Aus flag on the graphic design (for this purpose) board
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/australian-flag.987577/

The members of various aboriginal councils I spoke to recently on this very issue (norwood council don't fly the aboriginal flag either) said that their flag means alot to them and that one day they very much hope to have a combined flag.

He also dropped a fun fact that the aboriginal flag flew for the first time in history at Victoria Square, where it has flown continously ever since.

I would be happy for the Aboriginal flag to become the Australian national flag. I just think it's a great flag and much better looking than the current flag.

The current blue flag isn't even the proper flag anyway. The original civic flag used in Australia was the red version and it was only changed to blue in the 1950's at the whim of Robert Menzies, because a red flag was at odds with his anti-communist paranoia.

That's pretty cool. I like it.

As the whitest bloke in this country, I dont have any feelings one way or the other.
If they want to use their own flag thats perfectly fine.
If they want it displayed about government buildings next to the Australia flag, thats perfectly fine as well.

Not seeing the issue that the council is whinging about.

Whatever our flag is, the colours on it should be our national sporting colours, not green and gold however that happened.

The flag should be green and gold for sure. Australians identify with those colours.

Helps that Pelle has remembered how to football in the last fortnight. Lovren doing his best to keep Southampton in it early.
It should have been a penalty for sure but I was disappointed at Allen's strike being disallowed due to that shoddy offside rule. One for one, I guess.

Enjoy your moment in the sun. Keep this up and Southampton will surely be around the mark for a Europa spot. Our league campaign is finished and I don't like our chances against the Champions League-tier Dortmund in the EL. What do? It was always going to be a struggle for consistency this season with Jurgen coming in October and the sheer amount of fixture congestion... I just thought we were past it.

With so much money to built stronger depth the bigger clubs are always going to grind the 38 games better than the poorer ones.

Then you have Leicester defying literally everything while we yo-yo between top half and bottom half for most of the season due to suspensions, form, and injury. It's crazy to think we're even anywhere this year after losing so many first choice players at the end of the last two campaigns.

Our moment in the sun is just being in the top league, clubs like Liverpool will never understand what struggling is until they get relegated.

Tribes' Takes:

- 36'ers are neither here nor there, NBL is a means to an end

- Grown men dressing in Strikers' garb puzzles TF outta me. Enjoy it for what it is sure - a glorified home run derby in warm weather while you sink cans with your m8's - but otherwise JFC put your Facebook profile pic the way it was

- Adelaide United was dead to me the minute those North Adelaide schlubs took over. How any Port Adelaide man can support a club owned by someone who lists his Supreme Court injunction of our 1990 bid as one of his crowning achievements is beyond me this is some Kony blood diamond shit

I have a friends at the 36ers, but I'm not a huge basketball fan so meh.

Cricket...not a sport will not discuss .

My feeling about United is it feels too Crowey, too many they're goers. Victory feels like a club....and has the best shirt!

Tldr: I've managed to justify to myself that I can support Victory.

Why do our teams keep wearing blue then?

“I feel very strongly that the Australian flag, we fought two world wars under and numerous others, is the flag for all Australians,” Cr Amber said.

NO!
We actually fought under the Union Jack in the two world wars in any case

Then the red Australian flag

The red one is the army.

The white (ensign) is the navy.

The powder blue the RAAF.

The "red one" has never been our national flag as far as I know.

NO!
So, some nobody from a tinpot council in a tinpot state claims to speak for all Australians?

What an arrogant prick.
