Never bothered too. I guess I don't have the predisposition to dissappointment, so there's that.

It's still poor but less disappointing I guess.

Watch the Elephant Man....that is a fantastic film.

I read the books before seeing the movie. Loved the books and didn't mind the movie. It is what it is.

What Lynch should I tackle next? I started on Mulholland Drive.

Anything but Dune is usually the popular sentiment. Blue Velvet is a safe choice. IMO his other great movie besides Mulholland Drive is Inland Empire but it is an acquired taste and being shot on a digital camera instead of film did it no favours. Other good choices are Eraserhead, Lost Highway, and The Elephant Man.

I loved the book. The problem with the film is if you haven't read the book you couldn't possibly understand it. Knowing the story inside out I actually really liked the film despite the criticisms. It's not really a "Lynch " film though, and it's such a pity that Dali didn't end up doing the design for it. See Blue Velvet if you haven't.
