I knew well before it died that it was a long long way up shit creek. Their financial reporting was so out of whack with store performances across the grid. They were all experiencing wild negative growth and the conditions and expectations placed on staff were horrendous. We never had any stock, they kept cutting staffing hours further and further back while adding more tasks at store level. Myself and the other store manager regularly didn't get out of work till around 10pm. The signs were there the minute Anchorage took over, stock stopped rolling in, they took the razorblade to everything.

Some thought it was short term to cut back on all the rubbish Woolworths was spending cash on, but the truth is they took the sword to everything and gutted the entire business, moved all the on-hand stock for a tidy profit fudging the financial results, then conned everyone by listing it on the ASX and making hundreds of millions before slipping out the back door.

The new upper management teams that came in suddenly realised "holy shit, we have no cash flow and no stock on hand" they were so in debt to Samsung and Sony that they both had refused to sell stock to the business on credit and would accept cash only. We all knew it was ****ed for a long period of time, the talented ones left years ago. I feel so sorry for some of my staff who are still at the store I managed, they have no hope of other jobs because dick smith is all they know and they just don't have the skills to change roles. Great people but I fear for them, hope they all land on their feet.

Fixed up the lighting for the outdoor area tonight, just wondering, is it a stereotypically edgie or a more broad appeal?

The system has been sitting there in the cupboard under the tele for like a decade

We had a chipped PS2 because my dad was tech savvy enough to burn games and also too much of a tightarse to pay for the games.

Better times because consoles and online play wasn't really a thing so there was no worry about being locked out of online.

I have a working PS1 from when I was like 4 that has a mod chip in it so that when my older sisters went to Bali they would just bring back hundreds of 2 dollar ripped games.

****ing good times. It's sitting in my TV cabinet right now with I believe a burned version of final fantasy tactics in it.

I got my Xbox on right now, playing American Wasteland, feeling like I should have played THUG instead. I'll get do that next.
