Shit I'm literally doing the same thing on my new laptop right now.

Need something to get me through a 14 hour flight to Abu Dhabi next Saturday and that there is one game I know that sucks hours like no other.

I was reading about Earnie Shavers who according to Ali & others packed the hardest punch in boxing for a period.. anyway Stallone invites Earnie down to spar with him in prep for Rocky III he may have even been considered for the Mr. T role I think.

So Stallone is in the ring with this guy & Earnie is just pulling his punches so he starts egging him on "Come on Earnie show me something real" etc. Earnie ain't keen to hurt a star so he says "I can't do that Sir" but Stallone keeps chipping away & Shavers finally lays one under his ribs.. Sly doubles over calls time & is helped to the bathroom where he proceeds to puke meanwhile ol' Earnie is informed later that they can't use him lol.

I built a computer when I was 14 but I haven't touched it since nor have I thought about upgrading, though I probably should. I wouldn't know what to recommend.

No worries. Im browsing through my phone but nice to be able to store photos and whatever on a big screen.

If you're just browsing the internet and playing music, pretty much anything can do what you want these. I wouldn't spend more than $500 if I were you, depending on how big a screen you want.

Were you looking at laptops or desktops? If laptops then pretty much what Raven said re: if you're just using it to store photos and browse the internet I wouldn't spend anymore than $700 at the absolute max.

Ok mate thankyou. Thats what i was after. A round about price. You might laugh but my windows XP computer just crashed and burned. So i want to salvage all the photos i have and a another computer would be nice. See how we go. Thanks dude.

You could probably get what your after for around 700-850, depending on big you want to monitor to be.

Civ5 takes a while to load.

Don't know if I'd recommend playing it at this time of night anyway.
Whenever I try to have a quick game of Civ, it ends being at least 2 hours.

Sucks me in every time.

Just had a quick browse on JB Hi-Fi and something like that ^ should be perfect for you tbh. Comes with a decent-sized hard drive (1TB) and a wireless keyboard and mouse apparently. Monitor like this (below) is pretty nice as well.

Yeah not sure on that. Ali set himself with his skills. Tyson could have been the one to take him down with his brute punch if he could catch him. It would have to be in three or four rounds. I am was lucky enough at my age to have seen a few of Alis fights live with my dad. Exciting for me as a kid so ive seen the Ali days.

Let's take a look at Earnie Shavers again then:
