As someone who only really listened to Silverchair in my late teens, say 2006-2010, I liked Frogstop, but Freak Show is better

Also re the Taylor Swift stuff.

The KFC campaign was a red herring. It was banned because precious sooks had a cry about their station playing Taylor Swift.

It wasn't the first song to be voted in after a viral campaign.

It certainly wasn't the first mainstream pop song that was primarily played on commercial top 40 radio to make the countdown.

It wasn't the first song that hadn't been played on JJJ before to make the countdown.

It was the culmination of the listener base disappearing up it's own arse after a decade of Kingsmill slowly destroying what JJJ used to be about, and it was pathetic and sad. They could have embraced it and it would have been a meaningless, funny footnote, even if it made the top 10.

Always wonder how different Daniel Johns/Silverchair would've been if JJJ hadn't catapulted them to success as 15 year olds. Still makes my head spin they were that young when they released Frogstomp

The solo to Tomorrow, it's crafted beyond what a great many 15 year olds are capable of. Coulda been anything.

Freak Show was undoubtedly the peak. The band coming in to their own after Frogstomp, which is still a classic but definitely heavy on the Nirvana influence.

Neon Ballroom had moments but was far too dirgy and lacked a bit of spark.

Diorama, it is what it is, the band dipping it's toe in another direction. Not fantastic, but the kind of thing that relies on what comes after to help define it.

What came after was Young Modern. Shithouse.

El_Scorcho , Janus , and anyone how has played a decent amount of Deus Ex. (I'm amusing you two have. Apologises if I'm mistaken.)
Have you ever heard this bit of dialogue? I hadn't.
I usually just take the NSF commander in to custody, I have waxed him a few times, but I've never initiated the fight, and ran away from him.

16 years later, and I'm still finding conversations I didn't know existed.

That video lead me to this ol' classic I haven't seen in years:

All the best - hope you got some sleep.

5.30am bedtime :D

Worst thing is I have to leave for the airport at about 4.30, so will miss most of the game :(

I've never seen that! I'd never thought to run away. Amazing.
