The people who claim to be the most tolerant are generally the most intolerant.
Nah. That's a massive cop out.

No-one has a 'right' to freedom of speech when they're talking hateful shit. Bigotted attitudes are a choice and people deserve heat if they want to openly express stupid views. If that's called intolerance then so be it.

My new name is Eddie Dinglesson.

I have Icelandic heritage I wasn't aware of until today.
Apparently the vikings kidnapped a bunch of Scots and Irish as slaves when they went to settle Iceland, so there may well be a few Dinglessons floating around up there.

Ugh election time from the 18 year old dying to be heard first timer grommits to the old bitter cynical & twisted.. I want that heated cave in tassie more than ever

Martin Bryant lives in the only heated cave in Tassie.

Port finishing outside the 8 and Mr Smugface winning the election f*ck 2016 :(

Labor has run a surprisingly good campaign, I didn't think shorten had it in him. Based on the campaign and policies they clearly deserve to win in my opinion but that's not how elections work I guess.

On the flipside the coalition change leaders from an idiot to a used car salesman who is completely beholden to the nutters in the right wing of his party and all he comes up with is a 50 billion dollar tax cut, calls himself a genius and declares that he's won it. The #faketradie ad says everything you need to know about the liberals (like em or hate em).

Shorten has been terrible. His performance on 4 Corners last night was awful (as was Turnbulls). As much as most would hate to admit it Albanese or a full strength Rudd or Gillard would have wiped the floor with Turnbull.

The greatest asset the Libs have is Shorten.

Remember when we had real politicians who could make decisions in their head?

I don't think he's been outstanding but he's certainly surprised me and a lot of other people. I thought he was going to be absolutely terrible, I didn't think he could beat abbott even and would've laughed if someone told me he'd be 50/50 in the polls 1 week from the election. He'll most probably still lose but governments usually have to be absolutely appalling to be thrown out after a first term, the coalition obviously has been but Malcom seems to have some kind of reality distortion field where people WANT to think he's this great guy who is totally honest and who's intellect will solve all of our problems.

Labor have been on the front foot for months - launching and discussing popular policies and tackling reforms that people said were political suicide (negative gearing). If it wasn't for charismatic mr Turnbull or the widely held belief that the coalition are wizards with the economy (ugh) then I think labor would win this.

Are England the biggest underachievers when it comes to soccer?
They remind me of the South African cricket team in big games - you just know they're gonna fall short.

If Plibersek was leading Labor, I'd imagine they'd be doing better, but Shorten is what my mother would have called a `poison gnome'; a little man who thinks opposition is leadership (same term used for Tony Abbott).

It'd be interesting if voting wasn't compulsory the incumbent probably couldn't rely on the roll up decide on the day one box tickers "stick with current mob I reckon aye" disinterested on the way to the shops brigade.

Labor $5.25
Libs etc $1.12

Bookies odds.

It isn't 50/50 by any stretch.

The opinion polls are roughly 50/50 on a two party preferred basis, that doesn't help of course if the marginals don't get the needed swings. But polls do show trends well and if you look at bills approval rating over time people have obviously warmed to him. I used to be of the view that Bill will lose labor the 2016 election and that Albo had a far better chance. I no longer think that's the case now, if labor lose, which they probably will then it wont be bills fault.

Yeah during the leadership change I was really hoping that Tanya would get it. I think she is labors best communicator and would've given them the best chance. Really hope she can take it after Bill loses. She was awesome on Q&A lastnight I thought (as she always is). That said I know some people that seem to hate her with a passion (even some labor voters), not sure if that's because she's a woman or not, it confuses me.

Shorten is way behind Turnbull in preferred Prime Minister polls.

I get you like him but he is on the nose with the punters.

I don't actually like him, and I get the criticism. What I am saying is that he's not the train-wreck that I thought he'd be and that he's run a decent campaign. If his campaign was rubbish he would be a lot further behind than he is. Also the alternative would've been Albo, I love Albo, I really do but I do question whether he could actually have done any better than Bill. Plibersek on the other hand if she actually got a look in during the leadership change I think could've won this election, unfortunately she didn't really get a serious look in.
