I missed the Chaser's Election Desk last night but glad I saw this article on line about it today. Watch the video from last night's show. Its a classic and sticks right up liberal democrat and so called libertarian Senator David Leyonhjelm

They say things like: “Life sucks if your girlfriend doesn’t.” And: “Behind every great woman is a man checking out her arse.” Senator Leyonhjelm believes that: “We should be able to say what we think without getting into strife because somebody got offended.” Of Wicked Campers in particularly, he’s said: “You’d need to be a particularly wowserish person not to find it funny.”

So the Chaser went and got a van, covered it with filthy slogans about Senator Leyonhjelm, and parked it outside his house. The slogans read things like: “The best thing about oral sex from David Leyonhjelm? Five minutes of silence.” [watch the video there are a few more]

And did he find it funny? Actually no. The skit, which went to air last night as part of the Chaser’s Election Desk, showed the good senator coming home on his bike, looking absolutely furious. His head goes completely scarlet. He uses the F-word. He’s since been up all night, tweeting stuff about how his wife was “terrified” and “frightened to death” by the “harassment outside my house.”

Just on another economic topic, London's FTSE index is back above where it was before the Brexit vote.

I bought in just before close of business the trading day of BREXIT. Made a mint on the rebound. Panic and gloom is risky as you are catching a falling knife, but the brexit panic was unsubstantiated.

In regards to REH's post about consecutive quarters without a recession, the answer is we can go as long as we want to until there is a trigger - which could come from anywhere mind you. The worry is, the longer the rise - generally the lower the low. If it crashes, we could be in a world of hurt.

Ah back to the good old days of 7-10% inflation, 11% U/E and 17% home interest rates. That will fix up the housing affordability index and cut the multiple of house prices to household income in half in no time.

Every quarter we stay in positive growth, we are one quarter closer to a recession.

Debt is higher in Oz than it was in the U.S. before its financial crisis. In Oz Household debt as percentage of GDP, is at 120+% whereas the US peaked at about 95% in 2008 and is now at 80%. At some point the world banks will stop lending to our banks to lend to the average Aussie to buy more residential housing. Mortgage debt in Oz is around $1.8 trillion. Once the Chinese and Euro banks say enough is enough, its see yah later no recession for 25+ years stats.
