Perhaps they realised they couldn't win in those days and Latham was just a place marker.
That is a possible explanation but if they were looking for a place holder that wouldn't send them backwards Beazley would have been a better choice.

Interestingly it was a four way leadership race between Latham, Beazley, Rudd and Gillard with Rudd and Gillard pulling out to support Beazley.

No guesses who Mark Arbib supported then...

When the history is written though, it will all be Eddie Obeid's fault.

Oakeshott is struggling financially on his $70K per year (indexed to inflation) lifetime parliamentary pension...

Surprised it's that low, TBH.

Coz he was a NSW MP for a decade before entering Federal Parliament. Not sure what the go is re: Fed v State pensions.

NSW Labor grubs like Reba Meagher and Fat Joe Tripodi walked away with pensions around $120k for their "distinguished" parliamentary careers.

Plus whatever was in those brown paper bags...

Pants wetters, cocaine snorters and hooker bookers control most market activity.

Actually it's more bots that are running algorithms that drive the prices up and down. All it takes is a few people to spook, the algorithm clicks into gear and boom, billions are wiped off the market price.

Then the same algorithms fire back up and start buying back a week later when the price is low enough.

The only time actual investors get involved is the initial first couple of hours. You can make a lot of money if you can predict when the bots get a hold of a stock.

What time do all of the pre votes get counted?
And when are they announced

Imo Flint is carving Ward in terms of public appearances and presence #boothbylife

And the algorithms written by companies like DE Shaw - who employ ex nuclear weapons designer scientist types - are done in such a way to take advantage of the actions of pants wetters, cocaine snorters and hooker bookers. Human activity still drives plenty of the market, maybe not the volume, but they drive the big movements.

I lived in Boothby when Nicole Cornes was the ALP candidate.

What a time to be alive.

Probably the most amusing and disturbing post on Bigfooty yet.

I'm in Reynella and haven't seen any candidates. I'm in Blackwood (cheap gym) regularly and have seen Flint at Blackwood train station a couple of times. Haven't seen Ward. Given the suburbs of the seat though the hills are more liberal territory (along with A fair number of Greens supporters). I'd expect suburbs on the plains would be the ones that lean more heavily towards the ALP.

I was on the same flights as Nicole Cornes to and from the 2007 GF during that election campaign. In the gate lounge Port supporters were trying to make conversation with her and she looked at them in the way you look at your shoe after you have stepped in dog poo. She would not engage with anyone until that shrill girl that used to do the ground announcing turned up and then she was all over her like a long lost friend. If you want to be successful in politics you need to be able to engage with anybody not just fellow "celebrities".

One thing I've gleamed from the ghosts of elections past is don't go early it's only for warped political enthusiasts who like a queue just saunter in after midday to be unfettered.

The only thing I've heard about my Lib member David Colovic is that he sometimes shops up at the poor end of the electorate, in Kilburn. Has been virtually invisible otherwise. Surprised that the Libs have gone such a poor candidate considering it is a winnable seat against that half wit Ellis.
