y'know, I've never actually heard of anyone being fined for not voting, has anyone else?
My sister-in-law copped a fine one year. Pretty sure she just binned it and never paid...

I think it's only compulsory to vote if you're enrolled and I don't think it's compulsory to enroll. I could be wrong. Even still, I think Australia's one of about 11 countries which has compulsory voting.

Shorten might actually win this. The Medicare bullshit might have actually worked.
You cost the left handed jerkin' gherkins a vote that year m8I got a please explain back in the mid 80's. I think it was a 10 dollar fine they were threatening me with. I just wrote and told them I forgot...which I did in my drunken state. Still waiting for answer

no #malcom, you won't be forming a majority government...
No sausage sizzle at the polling booth I went to. Outraged. Made it a rather pointless outing - voting in a safe seat always seems to be an empty gesture.
How inspiring was it. Another Prime Minister who is stuck firmly in Opposition/Coup-mode.

I have aheatiRankor We were having a a discussion a few weeks ago about setting up a stc-1000 for homebrew beer, Finally got mine all hooked up last night and you were right, it was a piece of piss to wire up and i made an insulated box, i did choose to wire up a powerpoint but just a single outlet because i'm only using the heating element.
Did you have to wire up a lamp for your brew fridge? i have a cheap heat belt but it might not give adequate heat.
I have heating and cooling wired up. Chest freezer plugged into cooling and for heating I just have a desk lamp inside the freezer with the power cord hanging out plugged into the heating cord.Rankor We were having a a discussion a few weeks ago about setting up a stc-1000 for homebrew beer, Finally got mine all hooked up last night and you were right, it was a piece of piss to wire up and i made an insulated box, i did choose to wire up a powerpoint but just a single outlet because i'm only using the heating element.

Fifth, and presumably seventh in the next few years. Get your facts straight......So I just learned that Brett Ebert is our third highest goalkicker in our AFL history. If he kicks 12 more goals before the end of his Port Adelaide career, he'll be second. That's depressing.
This is a myth. Howard had a negative impact on Australia's economy, and surpluses/defecits have literally no positive (or negative) impact on a country's economy.
I'm super pissed off right now because allegedly my local Labor candidate Michael Danby preferenced the liberals above the greens, meaning that if he is in 3rd place he will hand the liberals the seat, and for what? I'm not sure if it is really true, because from my memory the how to vote cards had the greens first (though after nearly all independants) but even the consideration of that option is just plain shit.
