There was one thing that made my jaw drop in 3D, it was an imax blu-ray about the ocean and it was a whale swimming but instead of it the cheap pop out effect the whale was swimming in the background and you could physically see the water in the foreground.

3D should have been about giving movies depth but instead only use it for a few cheesy pop-outs.

Because i'm such an autist, I watched the entirety of toy story 3 3D without 3D glasses in protest for the fact that miss feel had booked the 3D version and not the normal one.

It was like two hours suffering from concussion.

What happened to the mindblowing 3D of years gone by? I remember a dinosaur movie that I saw at iMax as a kid and the shit was terrifying. These movies they bring out now in the theatres don't really jump out at you.

The thing is, the movies these days are recorded in 2D and the 3D is a after effect put on by neckbeard slobs in the post-production. The truly 3D movies are recorded with 3D cameras with extra piled on in post-production. Some movies even have 3D that would be basically hardware driven (glasses and projector) and wouldn't have any effort put into 3D at all.

Kinda missing the point, especially when the movie only exists to set up sequels. Lots of things are made to belong to a bigger picture, a bigger franchise. It isn't intended to be a one off film, unlike say, the original Star Wars, Independence Day, Jaws, Terminator, Rocky, Jurassic Park, etc...

I get that TFA was always going to be one of a series and also that it is a sequel itself but if you see it only as a trailer for some yet to be released sequel then maybe you are the one missing something.

That's fantastic. I was browsing for a boat at the boat show in Adelaide last fortnight. There was a boat called the 420 Busta (lol) and it got me thinking about boat names - negative gearing is a corker.

I'm not so sure Independence Day and Jaws were ever set for sequels.

Not entirely, it's a solid 7 from me its own. The sequels could see that rise or fall to a 9 or 6. A significant difference of awesome to average.

I wasn't sure, since Star Wars was always going to have sequels.

Yep, but the original wasn't made with it in mind, not knowing if it would be a success or not. Like The Matrix. George always had his vision being made up on the go however.

Lol, didn't the sequels come out in the same year like 6 months apart?

Way to completely destroy it. Was like the jab followed up with the knockout blow to the franchise before anyone had time to recover.

Playing Pokemon go with the kids is great fun. They get to play computer games and I get them out of the house and exercising. It's strange seeing so many people wandering around doing the same thing though .
