Greens are steadily gaining in inner Melbourne seats, on trends if not next election then the one after they'll have at least 2 and possibly up to 4. They're only held at bay by the Liberals preferencing the ALP ahead of them.

The same was being said about the Democrats not that long ago. It may be possible that they will gain extra seats but then again they may slide too. Still if they are the attraction point of the Labor left wing again, Victoria is their traditional heartland.

They'll barely get one Senate seat in SA with the rise of the populist Xenophon. They still don't have a quota although they should get there. Sarah Hanson-Young lives on!

You watching that briefcase show? What's it all about? I've got the telly on in the background waiting for footy classified to start to get my weekly dose of Caro talking at length about Richmond.
Yea snap, I don't really know the gist apart from keep the money or give it to the other couple I'm taking the cash cos' I'm heartless.

If Labor were a genuine left leaning party who weren't quite as extreme as the Greens they would probably win over a lot more people.

It's a bit simplistic but the rise of Hawke/Keating saw the destabilisation of the left wing of the Labor Party which had a strong Victorian base in the ALP. Interestingly the Greens single HR seat is in Melbourne.......

Keating actively pissed off the left. Balmain was working class to its boot straps and traditional Labor heartland pre mid 1970's. "Balmain lefties..... they are opposed to everything. They say they are in favour of growth but they are opposed to uranium mining, they're opposed to coal mining, they were opposed to mineral booms, they can find a reason to be opposed to all enterprise. In the end I said what it boils down is Balmain basket-weavers idea of economics is wider nature strips, more trees and eating your own shit." :D

Eddie Dingle are you dealing with basket weaver neighbours? :)

jarryd heyne 'retired' from rugby 7s or whatever that is...
Haha Parramatta don't have the money to pay him. I guess Aussie Rules or Gaelic footy is next on his bucket list.

Yet you'd struggle to find a place that has gained so much from the country's general prosperity (primarily derived from the mining boom) in terms of exponential property price growth than the inner west of Sydney.

The only issue holding me from voting Labor is their support for the current system of offshore processing of asylum seekers. I suspect it's the same for a lot of people.

The other day when I was found Keating's famous Acme Fightback video, this video came up on the right hand side so I clicked on it. It starts off with a Keating quote.

I know some of it is intentional, but could that be more homoerotic? Even the lead in to the celebrity news bit, "Charlie Sheen has closed the door on 2 and a half men"

The Labor Party was formed at The Unity Hotel in Balmain. Now more famous for Friday night and Sunday arvo swing dancing.

It is an interesting area but Albo won massively in our electorate. The Greens guy, who was the only realistic opposition, was an ex Union way way way left loonie. The Lib guy went ok on primaries but got flogged on preferences. I think the people that Keating was talking about are further south like Annandale, Marrickville and those areas. 3/4 bedroom homes don't go for less than 3mil on the peninsula and those people tend not to eat their own shit.

Or at least we don't in my house.
