I spent an hour just in Jensen’s apartment block, talking to NPCs, getting a feel for the atmosphere of the city, and, of course, breaking and entering. Everywhere I turned there were little intricacies that tell something of the world: homeless augments sick with withdrawal symptoms; graffiti and propaganda posters, both for and against augmentation; empty Neuropozyne vials crushed into the floor...

...If it weren’t for the fact that I was running out of time and the Square Enix representatives looked worried that I’d never leave, I’d have spent my whole time in that first district. I never once felt bored and every time I pushed into a new area I was rewarded with something that developed my understanding of Mankind Divided’s world: emails, a story told by the environment (like a crime scene), or an NPC who could tell me their story.

I'm pretty hyped for this game.

Kotaku cops a lot of flak for some reason, the Aus and UK versions actually has some decent content but i suppose they will always have the "Gawker" stink to it.

After watching 4 Corers I was curious to see how the NT News would headline the cruel treatment handed out to the kids in Don Dale Youth Detention Centre. It was to serious, they played it straight.

Oh after initially defending it with a 1am press release, but Turnbull deciding overnight to go to a Royal Commission, Chief Minister Adam Giles has just sacked NT Corrections Minister John Elferink.

Should ****en lock him and those guards up in those tiny cells with a few of these convicted islamic terrorists Turnbull wants to keep locked up for life.

Bugger me John Elferink keeps his other jobs. Nice tripling up of duties and ultimate power, Attorney General + Minister of Children + Corrections Minister. No conflict of interest across these roles and ability to bury things.

But I guess with him retiring at the next election which is in 5 weeks the 27th August he probably can't do much damage, although as the writs aren't issued until the 8th the government doesn't go into caretaker mode until then, so who knows what he could do. He might just sit on his arse and wait for his big fat pension given his 2 terms in parliament add up to about 15 years.

Elferink to keep Attorney-General portfolio
Back to the Adam Giles press conference, where the NT Chief Minister has just been asked if dumped corrections minister John Elferink will also lose his other duties, including Attorney-General and Minister for Children and Families.

OK, it's got me stumped. I can't for the life of me find the croc in that picture.

I don't know what to say about that 4 Corners story. Its so horrific, but we know its only one tiny bit of what is going on in Australia, and theres probably a lot we don't hear about thats not much better.

Its so utterly ****ed

I spent 9 years in the Territory.

A broom needs to go through every level of government.

As the locals say up there "total shame job brus"

Berrimah?

Went to the Berrimah pub many times before they bulldozed it and turned it into a Harvey Norman with a "Tavern".

Remind me next time I see you to tell you a story about that pub. Not fit for publication here.

A friend of mine worked as a guard in the mental ward of a hospital for about six months. He says that some of the crazies he met in there - we are talking rapists, paedophiles, the scum of the earth - are so cooked on ice and whatever drugs there are that there is no helping them and the best solution for everyone involved is for them to be executed. The worst thing is...he saw some of those guys out on the streets a month later, and he's thinking "How the **** did you get released."

Then he was telling me the story of how a patient who was brought in by the police - calm, completely lucid and very normal kept saying how he knew he ****ed up and that he was sorry but he really didn't belong in there. Next thing that happened, a nurse gives him an injection and suddenly he can't even talk and drool is coming out of his mouth.

Picture that for a moment - being trapped inside a mental ward and inside your own head...knowing that you didn't belong there but not having the capability to express yourself to anyone who could do anything about it.

It's when you truly consider that that you understand how someone could hang themselves by their IV cord...which is another thing that he witnessed.

The world is ****ed. There is bad shit going on that you wouldn't even have the capacity to fully comprehend, which is why we desensitise ourselves to it.

God left this place a long time ago.

They get forgotten up there. I've only been to the NT a few times but it appears that the whole place sort of marches to the beat of it's own drum, with it's own little niche culture.

I get the impression that a lot of positions are filled by people who would never be considered for the position in a location with a larger population. So you get people that get opportunities that they wouldn't otherwise have got and thrive but on the flip side you also get people who are out of their depth but don't get moved on because a better suited person can't be found.

Did you just describe the PAFC geographical/socio economic situation, football department and playing list or...?

I've only been to the Territory once, it was muggy as all hell and felt like I could've been somewhere in SE Asia rather than Australia.

Great place though, really enjoyed it. The first day I was there the Melbourne Cup winner had to share the front page of the NT News with a story about people sticking fire crackers up their arses! :D

I had a lad that worked for me delivering soft drink. Let's call him "Larry". Now every day Larry would come back to work with red lips and red teeth and bizarrely the red fanta fell off its pallet every single day. Every single day. I had to sack Larry.

Fast track two years I'm in the Dulux store in Winnellie and there is Larry with his STATE MANAGER badge.

I said "Larry ****ing hell when you worked for me you couldn't tie your lace less steel cap boots each day how the **** are you managing this joint?"

Larry shrugged and said "I've been here longest"

That my friends is our Northern Territory.
