Putting ANY religion down gives more money TO religion.

The percentage of 'religious' people governs this, not the type of religion. So if you are an atheist you need to say so and not Jedi it.

Because he stats show that X% of Australians are religious. Therefore x amount of taxpayers money should be allocated to religion, please apply for the money. The jedi tend not to apply, nor do the pastafarians.

* that is, excluding moneys given to community support programs that are run by various religious groups, most notably the Catholics and the Anglicans

You realize that religion is an optional question on the census and therefore has nothing to do with any allocation of money? Community programs that are run by religious organisations, like the Salvation Army, Anglicare and Uniting Care Wesley get grants from the government for their services, but so does any organisation that runs such things. Same with private schools.

Religious organisations just don't pay tax - they don't get allocated money for their beliefs. So you're paying for them to exist indirectly - but hey, there's a lot of shit that you pay for that you'll never use or even see too.

Did you actually read the article? The info graphic is produced by the atheist society, if you don't care then you don't care. Plenty do (I'm not one of them).

Janus, the census is used to understand the make up, beliefs and demographics of the country in order to allocate the monies spent (and the concessions allowed), if the number of people who are classified as 'religious' drops considerably, so will tax concessions etc. as they do not benefit enough of the population.
