I like how a country with no beaches thrashed a team whose country is all beaches in the beach volleyball. Apparently the quantity of beaches do not correlate to being good at beach volleyball.

...how abstract is beach volleyball, why don't they just play volleyball? Is it because you can dive in sand and it makes it better to watch? *shrug*

They should just call it Volleyball and be done with it, since no one actually trains on a beach for beach volleyball, they all train in glorified sandboxes.

Roundtine.

I'd still like to see it I mean table tennis cripes
Minus the obvious when it comes to Women's Beach Volleyball (every mans favourite sport in the Olympics), Indoor Volleyball is so much better as a sport both to watch and play.

Does anyone remember that campaign on television during the late 1980 the voice over on the advertisement said in an ominous voice "do you know what your daughter is doing tonight?"

I was with friends we a used to laugh and say no, but I'm sure Al green does

Ah those were the days.

Port triple premiership. Adelaide36ers winning

In Adelaide a lot of beach volley ball is played at the corner of Frome Road and Pirie Street which, even at high tide, isn't a beach.

I know, the sand blows across the road. #notinmybackyard

Is it wrong that I like watching obscure sports at the Olympics? I don't ever want them to get rid of those kind of sports.

I like that every 4 years you can watch sports that you would never get to watch irl and then I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to work out the rules, what method they are using to score it, and because it is so rare I do not get to the part whereby I ask why someone would choose to play that sport. I am not interested in watching the really popular sports that you see regularly on tv.

Oh I also like watching track and field also which is not obscure but not on television much either.

You sure?

Malcolm getting criticized for giving a homeless man $5, WTF?

Of course he is. Apparently if you've got X amount of money in your hand you should just give it away to some bum on the street.

What I want to know is...did the guy who took the photo give $5 as well, or did he just think the fat cat politician should be doing all the social heavy lifting in that situation?

Give 5 dollars, get called cheap.
Give 100, still get called cheap.
Give 100,000 from government funds, get told off for misusing tax payer money.
Give 100,000 from personal funds, get told off for not spreading the wealth to more people.
Do it for apparent political gain, gets criticised.
Give nothing, no one cares and no one criticises.

What does it matter - it's still 5 dollars to a homeless person is it not? He would have been better off giving nothing at all and walking straight past. Who even cares, 5 bucks is 5 bucks more than I've ever given to the homeless.

Yep it's a lose/lose, would've been better off ignoring the guy like most other people do.

Haven't we already covered the deficiencies of private charity in this thread?

One day Feel, on a Friday, you and I are both going to be ordering at the chimi chimi food truck and while waiting, one of us look across at the other reading SizeableKickything.

The other is going to look up, our eyes will meet and we'll spend many lunchtimes in Hindmarsh Square together.

At least that's how my BigFooty fanfic opens, and it ends with one of us dipping those delicious beer battered chips into the other's little mayo pots.

Not a euphemism
