A guy that has said that 'nuking Europe isn't out of the equation' isn't a militarist?! Ok...
There's one real path to a nuclear confrontation in the world today, and that's a US war with Russia. Currently the US, enacted through NATO, has bases sitting right on Russia's borders. And not just any bases, but missile defence bases. This is the modern day equivalent of Reagan's Star Wars program, a first strike program designed to take out any Russian retaliation. This is part of the Hillary doctrine and is viewed in Russia as an act of aggression. Can you imagine a similar military build up on the US/Canadian border by Russia? It'd be all over by now.
Yeah, Trump is unpredictable and dangerous, but it's Hillary's predictability that's so frightening.-

Meme magic is real my friends.
I know this is a light-hearted joke but it's actually part of the problem.
Turning Trump into a world wide joke gave him more power than be probably deserved.

Our media coverage in the lead-up was woefully one sided and it's why people are actually surprised to see this type of result.
I've been constantly surprised at how seriously people in the US take Trump. They don't see him as the joke that is presented to us by our media, and I'm talking by your average voter, not some fringe redneck constituency.

I'm not surprised at all. As I said earlier in the thread a few weeks ago that so many Americans on my facebook feed were pro-trump, and they weren't people I would think would be. The silent majority is a real thing in this day and age. Again - the older you are, the more likely you are to vote for Trump as the stats show. Oldies win again.

Our media over here has been so staunchly anti-trump that many here would be so surprised at the result, but they only wrote what got them clicks. Everyone loved a Trump screw up.

So apparently the Canadian immigration website has crashed. People weren't joking.

A Ukrainian native I know is preparing to evacuate her family out of Ukraine.

Personally I would have thought you would have bailed from there a while ago, lol. Besides, I reckon Trump and Putin do/will get along swimmingly.

Added to that is any negative discussion around Clinton always seemed to descend into claims of "patriarchy" and "misogynist" on one side and fanciful conspiracy claims on the other. It was hard to find any substantial reporting on Clinton's credentials good or otherwise in this country.

Also... The Project presenters are going to implode with OMG overload. There is a silver lining!

I'm sure I won't be watching. Bracing for 50 million "Waleed Aly said a thing" articles.
