Cricket fans will see a new face behind the wheel of the heavy roller at The Gabba this summer, with David Sandurski appointed the new head curator.

Mr Sandurski will take over from grounds manager Kevin Mitchell jnr, who will finish up after his 27-year tenure following the opening Test of the Ashes series at The Gabba from November 23 to 27.

Mr Sandurski was the head cricket curator at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the past five years.
Hopefully coming from the MCG, this guy understands that there's more than just cricket to take into account at The Gabba.

David Noble should have gone to the Winston Peters school of negotiation/dealing.

A slightly confusing reference to a former Lion on the AFL website today:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-10-20/i-kicked-goals-on-all-of-them-dee-great-jakovich-reflects

Jakovich struggled to name his toughest opponent, requesting not to be taken the wrong way, but that "I sort of kicked goals on all of them".

...

He also had a feeling a then-young Mal Michael was destined for big things, which played out across 238 games and three premierships.

Jakovich played his last game in 1996. Michael made his debut in 1997.
