'based on the consensus mock draft'
Yes, this thread seems necessary.

I like your humour - but this is our current best guide to the complete bastardisation of the draft equalisation process.

If nobody else cares that their teams will suffer at the hands of team Afl ... fine.

GWS will continue to get concessions until they win a premiership. Western Sydney is a very, very vital cog in the national competition.

"draft equalisation process" - no such thing ... its a contradiction in terms. Drafts dont equalise competitions.

AFL will not change anything while the rest of the competition cherry picks GWS , GC and Bris lists .

Only just clicking this thread and browsing now but looking at what you just typed I see 6 draft picks in "Current Draft Picks" and only 5 after matching bids.
From my understanding you can only use picks that directly related to spots on primary list that are vacant.
You cannot match a bid with picks you never actually going to use. Unless GWS passed on a 6th pick in your mock example, there is something looking wrong with it. If GWS do not have a spot on list to even use a pick 52 it will be removed as a pick when draft order finalised.

They just need to change the boundary to 100km from the NSW Border.

When you have players 5-10 mins drive to a major Victorian town is too bs.

I have never got the sizeable discount on points ....surely the fact you can bid on a player and get them by using lower picks is enough of an advantage.

I don't like the academies but understand why they are there, I'd be happy for them to remain as at least a small compensation for the go home factor and to grow the game in NSW/Qld.

I'd make the discount non-existent or much smaller.

The lower picks thing doesn't help much anymore with the number reduced to list spots. Given the number of draftable kids in the GWS zone(soon to be reduced) we couldn't possibly take them all. And bids may come too soon for clubs to afford to match the points and miss out on other players.

Yeah we desperately need a club which will only ever succeed with massive handouts at the expense of other clubs.

However did the comp last 100+ years without them ???

2, 5, 12, 65, 72 and last pick in draft is how I think it would work if GWS matching bids at 5 and 12 in live draft. They would effectively be giving up their spot in cue in 30s , 40s and 50s in the draft to move up in cue and be made to take their later picks further at back of draft order.

Having a look at current order of draft it is showing GWS have picks 2, 15, 37, 39, 45, 52, 55, 57, 58 and 59.
That is 10 live picks.
Do they really have 10 vacant spots on their primary list right now.
How many spots are they allowed in 2017 season.
Every other clubs has maximum of 40 players on primary list.

Doesn't include picks traded in last year before the rule change

From wiki page
2014 AFL Primary List 50, $1,000,000 extra salary cap allowance
2015 AFL Primary List 48, $880,000 extra salary cap allowance
2016 AFL Primary List 46, $760,000 extra salary cap allowance
2017 AFL Primary List 44, AFL standard salary cap
2018 AFL Primary List 42, AFL standard salary cap
2019 AFL All concessions removed and the club operates like every other team in the AFL.

I count 32 on the current primary list including Deledio which would account for 10 live drafts picks I listed earlier.
I think that wiki page maybe out of date and 2017 they have a primary list of 42. Two more than other clubs and assume in 2018 totally in line with rest of other 17 clubs.

Definitely agree with this. I think our discount is too much and should be about 10%.
