That's a bit rough.

Especially considering the god and saviour of the swans (lockett) was never a poster-boy for having an eating disorder!

Anyway, he's a ruckman, not a speedy little midfielder. He 's supposed to be big and scary and knock blokes over isn't he?

Mott was not only overweight, but refused to give up the smokes and drinking habit. Watch out any club that picks him up, he was not willing to put in to lose the weight with us, his not likely to do it elsewhere.

Pity he has talent

True, but it's a fair effort to gain so much weight in such a short pace of time, must've really let things go.

That they had several other potential ruckman to use instead of Mott also would've made the choice easier.

Not a good situation at all, on one half it's harsh to delist a bloke who had a promising season because he's overweight on the other hand 12 bloody kilos!, how on Earth do you put on that much weight in 2 and a half months presuming you're a professional athlete.

That's a mighty lot of pies, beers, junk food, cakes, and more, pies, ...

Maybe considering his weight problems in the past, the Swans had a clause in his contract where if he returned to pre-season training overweight and out of condition, he'd be sacked.

Bummer though, he showed signs of being a handy player pity he missed that sitter against Essendon at Stadium Australia earlier in the year.

I admire Paul Roos. If this true, it is more evidence why.
A new coach has to stamp his expectations on the group and that is especially so if he was a player at the club. Mathews did it with the captain, Williams. Roos has said you are either fair dinkum or you are out. Good call IMO. The players know they have to meet standards. The bigger picture is what Roos is looking at here. Luckily for the Swans they changed their mind and appointed him.

Apparently some guy called Lockett played for the Swans a few years back...then attempted a comeback?

Maybe it was all an urban myth.

12 kilos? Kostya will lose 18kgs in three weeks in preparation for his next fight.

Let Ricky Mott starve and then he can come to St.Kilda if the Dons don't want him!

Not weak

He would have been given a program in the off-season and some requirements. He failed and got the boot, fair enough. Look at the successful clubs and they all have a tough approach to discipline, Brisbane, Pies (under MM), Crows, WC.

Look at the perenial under-acheivers and they have consistent discipline problems eg Richmond, how many drunk drivers, St Kilda, long history of problems, moving Spider is a start.

Have to draw a line somewhere.

I hate to see what happens first time Nick Davis cracks the sulks.

He won't sulk. Like every orphaned child he becomes far relaxed and happier when he finds his home again.

Paul Roos will promote the skills of Nick Davis.

The first time Nick Davis gets dragged for ducking his head, failing to contest a hard ball or attempt the miracle gola when there was a better team option, is when he will crack the sulks. Either that or breaking up with his girlfriend.

Lets hope Roos doesn't go sacking everybody every time they disappoint him. There will be nobody left by round 11.

Its a very good thing he's not in Sydney.

He played in a Grand Final this year, kicking four goals and nearly taking his side to a Premiership. He was also a contender for the Norm Smith medal.

Nick Davis spent the day sulking on the bench or in the pocket.

Baby rocca has now played in two loosing grand finals, and was not a contender in either.

Which other was that..??

He was our emergancy in 96.

So being so bitter Collingwood people. Nick has come home and just like Anferny Rocca has done, will show that being at home with the family does wonders for his footy.

BTW Did the rocca bros bunk in the same room when Anferny came home in 97?

Great post morgoth. You hit the nail right on the head. The clubs that are tough on players have success, the ones that don't please themselves (they normally do.....at the pub)

If this is Roos trying to prove a point, good job, its worked and hopefully the club soon becomes successful.
