Nope. Sadly didn't get that level of goss. Granted, hearing it, I blacked out with rage that once again, they see the footy club as their own personal plaything rather than using their resources to actually get behind the club in a healthy way.

I agree, you would think that they'd be smart enough to understand that, but these guys have gotten to where they are on the back of their ego & the belief that they are the answer to a lot of problems and have the money to not care what the average fan thinks. Add that into a room where everyone thinks the same, and the level of smugness gets to an unhealthy level.
Too true.
Yep, the reality is they will do whatever the **** they like - and most likely walk away from the smouldering wreck like they had nothing to do with it.
Meanwhile the passionate fans stand around the ashes wondering WTF!
and then, rinse & repeat!

I'm on stick the course and keep building through the draft, if we started to top up with players like Worpel and traded our picks for established players I'd be annoyed, I can't see this happening.
Assuming Draper stays and we don't get free agency compo, Worpel actually makes some sense, as he's a free agent so wouldn't cost any draft picks.

I agree about trading picks for players to try and contend now, I'd much rather take them to the draft or trade for young players that will stick around for a long time.

Just feel we have Worpel at home, another guy who can only play midfield, he's also reached his ceiling, all he does is raise our floor, makes us even more mid table when everyone is fit, our way out of this is good drafting, and that's got to happen over a number of years, no quick fix.

How deep do you want us to be a mathmatical chance in 2027?

Do you rid scott if he falls short of any of these?
I think 2026 will be shit.
The first half of 2027 less shit, but then I would like to see something in the way we finish off season 2027.
Maybe have a tangible game plan, players stepping up and showing something we can build on and then the trajectory from 2028 on should be positive. Challenging finals and then top 4 in later seasons.
But...
More likely to be back in the mire with board upheavals and sackings at the end of 27. Bookmark it!

I think we should be playing finals in 2027 or at the very least be in the mix by the last couple rounds.

Scott's extension beyond 2027 even for a year will most likely be predicated on that.

However as a non-negotiable we should have a list capable of a top 5 finish by 2028 and contending from 2029/2030.

2027 finals..... gee gonna be tough i reckon

Apparently club insiders have told Jake Niall we will move on 10 players from list this year, its not clear if hes including the mid season guys in this list but sounding like we won't budge on 4 years for draper so he will likely leave.
Also interesting (but not surprising) to read we have modelled the list build on Crows and Lions approach (so slow and steady at first then ramp up with some canny trade ins of elite talent).

Wait and see on Smartt and McMahon IMO. I wonder if guys like Parish, Langford, Ridley etc will be traded.

Was just doing a quick off season suggestion and the favorites to be gone imho;

1) Alwyn
2) Goldy
3) Lual
4) Shiel
5) Menzie

and then at least 4 from the following.

Draper via free agency
Nik Cox through concussion
Hobbs
Laverde
Setterfield
Smartt
McMahon
Tsatas traded for new opportunities
Gresham traded as suggestion
Parish traded for new opportunities

Thats great news..!! I think we need a big cleanout. For me;-

6 easy ones to delist:

Menzie
Smartt
Shiel
Setters
Goldy
Davey

Trade 4or 5 of the below:

Draper (SA) - keep Bryan
Redman (SA)
Gresham (to Blues)
Langford (Cats?)
Parish (Cats?)
Also if there is any interest in these low currency players:

Guelfi
Tsatas
Hobbs
Perkins

My list:

Perk
Menzie
Davey
Guelfi
Hobbs
Goldy
Shiel

Trade bait:

Draper
Parish
Langford

Still don't know if Cox will get through a preseason, 1 more concussion will probably be it.

I am keeping all 4 mid season picks and Lual.

If we hadn't signed Edwards & Jones they would be on my list too.

We need 1 or two established big fish if we can entice them as well.

Given the apparently depth of this draft I’m not necessarily this is the good news we think it might be.

Could move Menzie, Davey, Goldstein, Shiel, pay Gresham out, that’s an easy 5, then Draper, then Cox is probably a decision in the new year that may grant us an additional SSP pick, that’s a decent 6 without doing anything overtly drastic.

Anything after that is if someone picks up the phone you have a discussion. But you replace the chaff with top end draft picks.

Can’t just continue to turnover 8-10 blokes every year and expect to build anything meaningful.

Our picks will likely all be in the top 25 or so besides the 2 academy boys, so we will still have to access to some decent players.

Trades of older players could also have a player coming back to us, not just a pick. Maybe someone more suited to team balance and our rebuild.

That makes it even more complex because we are tight on spots.

I would personally take a view that everyone 2020 draft or later should be safe and that’s where you basically draw a line but the reality is there are 3 or 4 players that I would really like to retain that probably have to go if we think we need to make wholesale changes for the 3rd year in a row.

I would personally go as minimal as possible this year because I’ve got no idea what the list can actually accomplish or what it needs.

Get 5 kids in through the ND, probably save one spot for an SSP or a DFA should one become available and then shut up shop.

I would be putting all my effort into consolidating our picks up the draft order.

Egh even if draft is weaker this year there's a number of guys who you've mentioned that we know what we are getting from them and its not going to take us to next level. Happy to cut our losses and move them on rather than just tread water like every other year.
Like other guys above said they wont all be replaced by drafted, could also be replaced by people being traded or mature age ssp/msd players.

Holding on to guys post 2020 means perkins, adj, menzie are still on the list. How many more looks do you want at these guys?
This sort of attitude is why we are where are, overrating guys we pick and taking too long to admit mistakes.

Perkins you just ride the lightening because there it too much evidence to suggest the big, thick burst players tend to pop later and later, even in a good environment. I’m far more inclined to stick and twist with him than I am with some of the others.

Menzie can absolutely go, for some reason I thought he was a couple of years older than he was.

There is enough older stock to effectively turn the list over AND see whether some in that 20-4 year old bracket can surprise next year, especially given we would get **** all back for them.
