Time for a exorcist. Rebuilds are bloody hard to do and we will need to make sure that we have a proper group of experienced leaders helping out the young kids who will be coming through. We can't afford to just cull a bunch of older players and leave the kids to wither on the vine.

Remove Kernahan and Swann. The whole board itself needs to be held accountable since the rot starts at the top.

Get a independent organisation to do a proper review of the club from top to bottom.

Force MM to change his gameplan or find a new coach who will.

Take the captaincy off Murphy. Remove Walker and Gibbs from the leadership group.

Let Gibbs go to Port through FA.

Port Adelaide have done a great job with a not-oustanding list because every player has bought into the gameplan. They do the 1%ers VERY well and play for each other. They have added some good players but none greatly better than ours in the last 2 years. MM IS a great coach with plenty more runs on the board than Hinkley. How is it possible for Port to advance up the ladder so strongly and for us to take a nose-dive?? Selfish players not prepared to do the hard work on and off the field, worrying more about ego and incidental bullshit rather than pride in the jumper. Their players are signing on at a rate of knotts after buying into the club's future. Ours.....?
Every player who comes here gets truly welcomed, for example Wines didn't want to play for Port when he was first drafted, he supported Carlton as a kid and wanted to play there but in his second year he is living with Wingard (same age) and his younger brother who he is very close too (parents are happy with it) and is now being pranked on Adelaide radio by Cornes (oldest player on the list).
Polec and White also said it's one big family at Alberton I don't know if it can be replicated but even when Port were doing badly players were resigning and wanting to stay in the 'family' and also it doesn't hurt that Hinkley is a kind but stern father figure.

One of our biggest problems is thinking a rebuild will just work, like we did with this one. We thought "well we'll get all these top draft picks and chris judd and the rest will look after itself"

Rebuilds start at the top. They start with leading players setting strong examples for kids to follow. We only had one of those (Judd) and it appears it wasnt enough. When young kids started looking at Murphy for inspiration they were left lacking.

Murphy is a timid individual and was pretty suprised he got the captancy. People at the time said it would "bring the voice out in him" but it doesnt work like that.

Its my opinion that our biggest issue lies in the top tier of our team, where guys like Murphy and Gibbs never devloped the way other strong clubs would develop young players.

As it currently sits, again in my opinion, our best option is to try and win games. Keep busting our nut, try and create a hungry winning culture. There are 18 games left, try to win half, try to win more. Who knows how many we can win if we find our best form and carry it throughout the year, theres no point in throwing our toys out the cot now and playing for a pick

The worst thing we can do for the clubs future is bring a new crop of draft picks into a club that spent all year not giving a damn. Whats their welcome speach gonna be, "hi, are you here to save us?"

Bring them into a club that spent all year busting their nut for wins, regardless of finals chances, make them aware that only a winning attitude is accepted

It should not be impossible IF done right, for which you need the right people. Look at Port, who we should be emulating.

got it in one. Port were a basket case not that long ago. They changed their leadership, brought in a new coach (although MM is not the issue) and look at them now. Did they overhaul their list? No. Did they bring in some astute recruits like Monfries and Polec? Yes. A bit of tinkering and belief from the top is all you need.

As much as rejoiced at your loss today, the AFL needs a strong Carlton. I look forward to the day when I can genuinely hate the Blues because they are great onfield rivals

Really lost. Have no idea what the 5 year plan is.

A) SCORCH THE EARTH?
-Don't think we'll obliterate the list like St. Kilda and start from scratch.
-It doesn't make sense to frame the team with Walker, Daisy, Simpson and Murphy to spend the next 3 years developing kids like 2014 Nick Riewoldt .

B) SMART TRADING?
-Not sure how we're going to trade into a premiership team.
-Even with the expansion KPP bait, no trade value save for Henderson and picks. And what Carlton needs is Henderson and picks.

C) CHANGE OF PLAN?
-Don't think Malthouse will have a frontal stroke and change his 30 year game plan.
-He'd sooner be fired than change his mind over tactics.

I've had every man, woman and Essendon supporter give me their sage solutions (Sack Mick, trade Murphy for Tom Boyd, Get Hawthorn's recruiter etc).

Drained and heart-broken by the lack of direction.

Great another ******* rebuild, another 10 years of bullshit and another 10 years of drafting weak, soft flankers. I am over this massive mistake paying my membership, money that I can't afford to throw away like that, **** the weak dogs. I am sorry but I am completely over the lies and the lip service.
You keep saying that...

We'd have turned Wingard and Wines into solid VFL players by now.

Yeah I know and I am sorry, I just can't believe it has come to this again. I had hope, I had faith when we were going through our dark days but now I don't have any of that, this list and board has destroyed this club, I don't really know where we can go from here. We don't even have the player's/leader's who can form the core for a rebuild. Hell we don't even have a board who know what they are doing or seem to care about The Carlton Football Club, so disappointed.

Don't be fooled. Port has been very good with it's list management over the last 18-24 months. They won't be paying overs.

Then he'll be staying here, we are the kings of paying overs

How many zeros are we adding to the cheque for Frawley now aftering he plays one good game against us?

Well that's right Port won't pay 600k for Gibbs but if you read the Crows thread he is already lining up with them and they will pay even if to keep Dangerfield confident they are going somewhere.

Expect a major cleanout as years end. Not a chance Mick will tolerate this.

What good is a cleanout though? We are denying natural selection a chance.

All we will do is trade out a bunch of so-so footballers for more so-so footballers and so-so draft picks. We are already stuck in an endless cycle of terrible outside players, and the biggest solution on this board is keep trying what we are doing and isnt working.

Keep the list, draft new players, let the strongest survive. That'll create the strongest list going forward. Let our current fringe players go head to head against new draft selections, it'll either kick them into a higher gear and we'll end up with a stronger kid out of the draft

Instead of sacking coaches because the players find it too hard, the club should actually extend his contract and see which players want to stick around.

At this stage I favour creationism over Darwinism. We need divine intervention

Every time we think how 'bottoming' out is the best solution, think of this scary comparison

In 1995 Carlton and Geelong played in a grand final together

Since then, the lowest Geelong has been on the ladder was 12th

Since then, we've 'won' 3 wooden spoons, Geelong have won 3 premierships

Losing isnt the key to winning

To be fair, they invested a million dollars a year for Malthouse to bring No. 17 home in 3 years.

For him to be kept on the same coin to deliver it much, much later requires a typically short-sighted board to develop great faith or act out of great desperation.

No, but winning is the key to not losing.
