We can't keep bringing this up though as much as I agree. It was 2 years ago. He's not getting any younger.
I am not suggesting we give him a free pass, I think he should move on at the end of the season. I have always been annoyed that it was an Essendon dog act that injured him and ultimately cost us a couple of years from Carrots.

You still haven't given me one example which illustrates Bell isn't in the future plans of CFC.

I just did, he makes wrong decisions at times (much like Robinson does), instead of the dish-off to a player in a better position he tries to take on not one defender but two and ends up getting caught and turns it over.

No that's your opinion of him. You said you don't think Mick rates him. And you haven't showed me one example where Mick has illustrated this.

I'll share them with you. ;)

It's a little hard to know if a poster is male or female too, maybe BF needs a button on the avatars that reflect that position.

It doesn't really matter but etsal1 is as practical about things as you'll get.

Mixes facts and reasoning very well indeed.

So naturally Walker, Simpson, Buckley and other players Mick has screamed at on the boundary will be moved on as well?

He blows a rocket up all of them for varied reasons but he seems to be on Bell's case for the same thing. Either Malthouse isn't selling the message well enough or Bell isn't wanting to listen to it.

Harks, the sex of the poster is irrelevant to me, more interested in what they have to say and why.

Don't you think I know that? ;)

It's enjoyable having heated debate without the need to get personal.
Alike her male counterpart in zeeCFC, I enjoy young peoples perspective on things.

Us old bastards can at times get too grounded in our own views and at times to our own detriment.

Now you're just clutching at straws.

Bell was playing great footy until he got injured. Then we rushed him back v Collingwood (which of course you only do when the coach doesn't rate you o_O) and re-injured his finger. All signs of the coach not rating you.

Allright, you have your view, I have mine, we all see things differently. Let's put this one on ice for the moment, we can reassess it again after he gets back and plays a few matches.

I'll leave you with this last thought though, can Bell & Robinson play in the team at the same time ??

Clubs make bad trade decisions. In the past that's been us Mclean, Mansfield etc. Sometimes it's not us, Richmond/Hampson, thanks.

When you suggest trading a player who is regularly getting a game with us or isn't and is young and was rated as a junior and people say" nah he's got no trade value", just remember, there are clubs out there who make poor decisions, and we need to be the club that feeds on clubs like that!

Not all clubs are good judges, list managers, traders.

Yes. But I think Robbo's primary role has to be as a defensive fwd in a set-up like that.
Stints in the midfield as Murph's protector or if we need more kamikaze.

Think the rebuild was in practice after last season. We moved on quite a few list plodders and hopefully after this next cull we can look at the list and not have to ask the question 'would this guy get on a top 8 side's list?' about 6+ players. Right now those in that category are the likes of McLean, Ellard, Waite (due to injuries/age/discipline), Carazzo (due to age/injuries), Armfield. A delisting or tap on the shoulder for them while a couple of younger types will be shopped around before being let go like Lucas, Watson & Garlett.

So where do people see us finishing this year, and thus what "tools" will we have for our "rebuild" (I thought we just completed one of these ???)

Doing a ladder predictor I can see us winning 1 more for the year (St. Kilda this weekend, and god help us if we drop this game) with our remaining games against teams from the top 8 + Essendon who may or may not be fielding a team but will be gaining Hird for a "heroic" game.

In this scenario I have Carlton finishing on 5 games with the Giants, ahead of the Lions and St. Kilda. The games for those teams down the bottom of the ladder which will shape our final position IMO include

rd 16. Richmond v Lions (Pick Richmond) and Giants v Crows (Picked the Crows but a Giants upset wouldn't be unthinkable)

rd 19. Richmond v Giants (picked Richmond) and Melbourne v Lions (Picked Melbourne in a home game)

rd 20. Lions v Crows (Picked Crows but it is a Lions home game) and St. Kilda v Bulldogs (Picked Bulldogs)

rd 21. Melbourne v Giants (Picked Melbourne in a home game)

rd 23. EB v Giants (Picked the WB in a home game)

So Richmond have a fairly easy run home, so I can see them having their usual late run up the Ladder, and the GWS and Lions have some "interesting" games when they have a home ground advantage. Plus our competition is strong, so our % may take a real battering. It wouldn't be unthinkable for us to finished as low as 16th depending on how things fall.

Does anyone think we should hang on to any of the following players next year? (Delist or trade)

  • Lucas
  • McLean
  • Watson
  • Everitt (he is such a nothing player)
  • Garlett
I would happily lose them for nothing
