I can't believe we're already having this conversation. After those painful years we're back in the doldrums. Unbelievable.

It isn't just the playing list. The running of the club from top to bottom has been incredibly incompetent. It's an old boys clubs with too many rich idiots with their fingers in the pie.

12 board members. An unceremonious dumping of a favourite son. Countless utterly abysmal draft choices. Shocking development. Lack of leadership.

We've absolutely ****ed ourselves.

The only one is maybe Bell. Actually you're right with all the rest of them. It's extraordinary how poor our list is. We never really looked like a top 4 side from 2009-12. We paying now.

Bell has that dreaded word "potential" but he is a long way from being the sort of player we are hoping for. We are better off cutting our losses now with him because we just don't have the development structure in place to get Bell to reach his zenith.

Just another question on Thomas. I haven't watched all the games because I refuse to while they put in this effort, but how is he moving? It is a massive investment of $700k per year to bring him in. If he is only going to be at 60-70% of his capacity that is another massive blunder by Carlton. Maybe it's too early to judge him?

It's our club's 150th year. Let's not celebrate it by turning the club inside out after 4 rounds of footy. Let's show some pride as supporters, the kind of pride we want from our players and staff and get behind the team pushing them to improve. If towards the back end of the season we're still this bad, then sure, let's ask what's needed to get the club back on track. But for now, guys, please chill the **** out.

Being a great team and winning a flag is a mix of many different elements, and like fire, without one element, it just doesn't work.

IMO you must have the following to be a top team:

• Great recruitment staff
• Great list management
• Great development coaches
• Great fitness/medical/rehab facilities and staff
• Great head coaches and gameday coaches
• Great culture and environment
• Be innovative
• Great board and administration

Port Adelaide have done a great job with a not-oustanding list because every player has bought into the gameplan. They do the 1%ers VERY well and play for each other. They have added some good players but none greatly better than ours in the last 2 years. MM IS a great coach with plenty more runs on the board than Hinkley. How is it possible for Port to advance up the ladder so strongly and for us to take a nose-dive?? Selfish players not prepared to do the hard work on and off the field, worrying more about ego and incidental bullshit rather than pride in the jumper. Their players are signing on at a rate of knotts after buying into the club's future. Ours.....?

Because players like Waite are just not leaders and can't be relied on. Gibbs does nothing when the chips are down. Murphy hasn't played well for 2 years. Judd's body is shot, the rest of the midfield consists of plodders like Curnow, Ellard, McLean. There is a severe lack of talent across the board.

Or you know, Malthouse could coach to the players strengths rather than trying to be what they were. We've seen time and time again since he took over what the players are capable of when the return to a game plan they are equipped to handle. Hell going back to that last season won us several games. Its all very well to have a gameplan, and its all very well to say you dont have the cattle to make the gameplan work, well damn it, come up with a gameplan that works. This club has rapidly gone backwards in skill and execution since our great saviour came over.

Seriously our trade work needs an overhaul. I never liked the recruitment of Thomas, and i think that came at the expense of other players we should have traded for or at least looked at. We sacrificied a known goal kicker with good forward pressuire and tackling ability, to get Thomas and it simply is not working. He isnt fit, and he should not be playing until he is.

We havent drafted a decent key position player since..um....Fev. We traded for Henderson. Jamison was rookie draft. We havent had a centre half forward since Lance Whitnall left - yes I remember when we had two key forwards - and kouta. Now we have Waite. And Henderson who is almost guaranteed to be in defence after half time. Casboult and Rowe are bit players that lack consistency, and are missing key skills to make them regular players.

Our ruckmen are single purpose, with the exception of Kreuzer, and even then we've only had glimpses of what he could be, and its starting to be a few years now. Warnock is useless outside of his tap work and may as well be a witches hat after the centre bounce. We did give away Sam Jacobs, but even he isnt setting the world on fire these days.

We're going to pay Gibbs more than his performance over the years deserves if we keep him. Judd will likely retire. Scotland is already a rookie and not likely to continue. Carazzo is anyones guess. Murphy needs to deburden himself of the captaincy and the club needs to give it to Simpson.

ellard / curnow - not great disposal but they have crack ... wish gibbs had their work ethic
menzel - hopefully he is ok because he has already shown he is up to it ... need to games into him now
kreuzer - gee we need him back .. warnock is good in the ruck but a liability around the ground

If we continue in this manner, at the very least when Gibbs leaves via Free Agency, we will be looking at two very high selections at the draft. This will probably help us in the long term.

Where's the pride from the players? We are talking about a group of core/leadership players who are meant to be in the prime of their careers on the decline. Theres no pride or respect for the club or jumper, from the board down to the players.

If I were Mick I would considering walking away.

So many things are wrong with the club.
Firstly we need to stop being beholdant to people like Matheson and Pratt. Whilst they continue to pump money into the club the culture of the quick fix will continue. What we need to do is say thanks but no thanks and get back to making decisions that are in the best interest of the club. We then need to get our recruiting/trading in order. We need to make the right decisions and we need to be aggressive during the exchange period. We play it way too safe by hanging onto our first round picks where a club like Hawthorn go out and get players they need.

It should not be impossible IF done right, for which you need the right people. Look at Port, who we should be emulating.

Take away the Mathieson/Pratt money and the club is a chance to merge/relocate, especially if a 5 or 6 year rebuid is on the agenda. They are hardly responsible for the total lack of effort on field. Anyways off to Ciccone's on Monday for a much needed follicle revamp.

Time for a exorcist. Rebuilds are bloody hard to do and we will need to make sure that we have a proper group of experienced leaders helping out the young kids who will be coming through. We can't afford to just cull a bunch of older players and leave the kids to wither on the vine.

Remove Kernahan and Swann. The whole board itself needs to be held accountable since the rot starts at the top.

Get a independent organisation to do a proper review of the club from top to bottom.

Force MM to change his gameplan or find a new coach who will.

Take the captaincy off Murphy. Remove Walker and Gibbs from the leadership group.

Let Gibbs go to Port through FA.

Gibbs will ask too much for Port but Adelaide definitely will pay (more dollars than sense).
