Good to see how they would go, but we'd need to clone each one to make a team of 22.

Well Manson is at Beaumaris and has kicked 14 goals in his three games and Goss kicked 80 for Xavier last year so ireckon they'd go pretty good.....? forward line anyway with Wagner in there!

Watching 'The Recruit' makes me wonder why would you want to deliver a blast to a team that just won a 'friendly' game by over 10+ goals? The 'Recruit' team should've really played against either a) local club side; b) TAC Cup side or c) VFL/SANFL/WAFL team to see which of the players on 'The Recruit' could step up to the plate as a readymade AFL player.

Ok, so I didn't play heaps of football, but I've watched a lot of it over the years. And I was a pretty great water-girl. But in all that time I can't remember the part of the game where you're meant to knee your opponent in the throat.

Would he have likely been a good AFL player if not cut down by injury? I can't really remember him.

Probably decent, at worst. He kicked five goals on debut, albeit that he was a slightly "older" recruit (age around 21 when drafted, IIRC). He was never really able to string any decent length of games together, nor to really develop physically.

He also kicked 6 one day for the crows I reckon.
I remember him clearly,he could play alright.

Smith has played league footy for East Perth in the past, so my bet is that he's not getting much screen time because they want him flying under the radar.

Sorry if I'm being repetitive, but can someone fill me in on why Wagner isnt already on an AFL list. I mean I think he clearly stands above the others but how did he fall through the cracks? Or am I being sucked in to reality TV and none of these guys would have a snowflakes chance in hell of making it it at the highest level.

I guess I'm just genuinely curious as to how one guy makes it and another ends up playing and dominating at local level. Maybe that's the reality show/documentary Im dying to see.

One of the main things to come out of this show is confirmation of why Voss failed as an AFL coach and why good young players were queuing up to get out of Brisbane. No people skills whatsoever. And seems to think the template for an AFL coach is RDB. Not in today's footy.

It's absolutely astonishing that Voss was ever a senior coach. He's absolutely terrible. Listening to his commentary this year has been frightening, in regards to how little he knows about opposition teams. A key example was a couple of months ago, commentating a West Coast game, he referred to Schofield as our main key defender, the one who takes all the big roles…despite the fact that this has never been the case, MacKenzie has been our main key defender for 3-4 years, and Schofield would still be behind Brown anyway. For an opposition coach not to know who our main defender was (and it was the same when he was coaching) is scary. What on earth was happening at team meetings when talking about the opposition?

"Look guys, this Jarryd Blair fella is clearly Collingwood's main midfielder, we have to stop him."
"What about Pendlebury, Vossy?"
"…Who?"

Would it be better to have ie David Parkin or Rodney Eade as coach of the reality TV series rather than Michael Voss? In fact in regards to the moment when Voss told one of the players who had just played the friendly game against the police, why didn't he consult either the coaching panel or the captain before making the decision to axe the player?

Think they won by closer to 20 goals, for the second straight week, against supposedly tough opposition. Talk about a morale killer to blast your team after that. Sure, the players do have their faults (and would obviously get found out against tougher opposition), but if it's still resulting in a 20 goal win, they can't be too damaging.

That one year of commentary he did on Channel 10 prior to becoming a coach was atrocious as well.

It is getting better, the first few ep's had me worried but last nights was better and the show may be on the road to recovery.

Who are the ring ins that make up the rest of the team during games. By my calculations there are only 12 recruits remaining, 11 now DJ gone, so there are close to 10 other players when they have scratchies. Would like to know who they are, what level they play at. would help determine how well the recruits actually play in 10-15 goal wins.

FWIW if we were to choose one at the moment I would go the Jackel or Semmel, good tacklers and hard at it.

so we're due for the "BOG of the ring-ins takes the place of the delisted player" shock

For the shows sake I actually think Terry Wallace would have been perfect, he actually has some charisma and show ability and is generally well liked as a personality. Voss is hopeless, personality like a plank of wood, he really does kill the show.

And that female thing, I mean wtf is that? She is as useless as David Hille at top of the town! Get rid of her.

Her segments are so cringeworthy. Is she really a psychologist? Does she give her real patients the kind of terrible advice she gives these guys? I'd be pretty upset if I paid money for that kind of service.

And Wallace's spray(s) in Year of the Dog made Ron Barassi's best work look like child's play.

Bit harsh to judge Voss' entire coaching tenure on mistaking two West Coast players - I have no doubt he would have known who their number one defender was when coaching and it could have just been a slip up. Would have been interesting to see how he went as a senior coach after 5 years under his belt and a proper board behind him. He seemed to be finally getting it together to a degree.

As for the show, Dixon and the lass are absolutely woeful. I'd rather DJ on the show TBH. I hope I they have a physical shoot-out with Dixon, just to see Sem 'put his knees in his throat' as Dicko probably likes. That 'spray' he gave was laughable. I bet all the boys were trying not to laugh throughout it. Then he goes on a refers to himself in third person later in the show and pumps up his little outburst. Cringeworthy stuff. All the recruits look like they think he's a total w***er.

They don't really show enough of the analysis of Burgess and Voss as well IMO.

Wasn't there a rumour a contestant from up north got kicked off the show for going out and getting on the piss? This could of been Hutchy and they've covered it up. Very stiff if not.

I doubt they would have covered it up if that was the case, they would play on it if anything.

Does anyone know how they can guarantee an AFL contract?
Has a club committed to taking the winner if noone else wants him?
