The 'Recruit'

Quick question about the show. The winner (and by the sounds of it a couple of other contestants too) were able to choose an AFL side to be "recruited" by as a Cat B Rookie (e.g. Rookie with no background in the AFL for x number of years). This is the same category that international rookies, or those from other backgrounds (e.g Athletes such as Blicavs or Basketball such as Wood for the Pies) are rookied as. In each occasion the player doesn't go through a draft, but instead he goes straight to the club of their choice.


I only bring this up after reading Slobbo's (comical) article against Ed and "The Recruit" TV show. Here he finishes his article by saying




Does he REALLY not realize that ALL rookies drafted under this category choose their club of choice???

That wont happen to Voss.. he is fitting in nicely and he will teach our young midfield a few more tricks lol

Not surprised it's been boned. While it was entertaining, and it rated well, ultimately it's pretty clear none of the players are anywhere near AFL standard given pretty much no one was interested in recruiting the winner - and Wagner will almost certainly be a list clogger at Port.

How so? I thought category B rookies sat outside your main list, and you can take up to 3 of them (ie,. WCE have taken Corey Adamson and Paddy Brophy). I would have thought most if not all clubs could have put Wagner on their list...

No, they would have to eat clean and train hard, not use 'supplements' to try and gain an advantage... Pretty simple.
