What actually happened to Hutchinson?
He was really struggling it looked like. Particularly with his kicking it would seem.maybe an injury?
No doubt all for TV but he got the tap on the shoulder.
I reckon it's hilarious how everyone is saying how mean and unfair it was.
Voss was straight up with him.

The big American has got a really proffesional attitude and is an athlete , but gee wiz playing Aussie rules is a whole different experience. If he makes it he'll be champion. Hard track ahead though.

I think he "gets it" a lot more than the other 'naturals' TBH. It's not just about today, but about what you can become going forward too. His size, athleticism and attitude (he's confident, but realistic, without being arrogant) would have a few clubs interested in what they could mould him into. He's already been on the Swans' radar:

With a few years in the sport, I could see him being a Mike Pyke type at least. He's younger (by 16-17 months) and bigger (203cm, 111kg) than Pyke was (24 years, 8 months, 200cm, 105kg) when he was selected in the Rookie Draft in 2008, so there's plenty to work with there. Even if he doesn't win it, I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a Rookie Listed player somewhere in 2015.

I was thinking about that last night.... The winner gets a rookie contract so they have 2 years or so to work with them.... do they want a player they aren't going to get much more out of.. or do they want someone with enormous upside that could be anything...

I don't think it would be great for the longevity of the show if the winner never gets out of the reserves, but in saying that, again it would be an interesting discussion as to whether finding a player who ends up around Fitzgerald's mark, in terms of games played, would be considered a success. Because if they picked Wagner or Goss, they would be pretty confident of them at least cracking the seniors for a game. It's high-risk/high-yield to pick one of the converts. And I think it will also be interesting to see what effect that would have on future seasons, whether the mid-20s local league B&F types will even bother, because they figure they'll just lose to a guy that's new to the game.

I also wonder whether the winner really matters that much. To me, it should be much more important for the non-footballers to get their foot in the door, rather than the footballers. If Goss, or Wagner, or even Manson miss out, a VFL/SANFL/WAFL spot will be waiting for them next year, at the very least. And then they're on the doorstep of the AFL and will be playing against (and possibly alongside) AFL-listed players.

Going for Yoey. Purely because he seems like the nicest bloke. Also one of the best footballers.

I wouldn't mind him at Essendon, if we had to have one.

Ryan Fitzgerald was looking a bit surplus to needs this week, as well.

Probably netting 6 figures for his do nothing appearances. Easiest gig in TV... makes me a bit jealous when people like this, Griggs and Darcy on Seven, Craft on Nine get paid what they get paid for adding absolutely nothing.

Not to mention Fitzgerald was never remembered for his football. If it wasn't for Big Brother, he'd probably still just be pulling beers at South Adelaide

I totally agree that Maxwell is getting hard done by, he is better than bottom three yet. DJ is a tool like others have mentioned and should of been the one that went straight after the game BUT, that kick to him they say he short armed, yes he didn't outstretch his arms to TRY, but that was a meter higher than what he could reach. His attitude of trying until the confirmation of impossible was evident all along. The other one too, it was more of a matter of running too far under the ball, and not able to get back to contest it. It wasn't a duck, or a squib. And the way that Psych girl went on about it, made me think that she might be good with mind sets, but she knows little about footy. Hutchy should of been the one to perhaps go in the right way, but because he is likable, they wouldn't put him up. Just untidy, but could make it if he improved in that.

Dixon's rant was hilarious, and I said the exact same thing when watching that others did, that he was a soft football player. Knee him in the throat, please!, when should of Maxwell kneed someone in the throat, I didn't get that. I thought he was talking to the Ruckman for a bit. Voss is a dud coach. He is an arrogant fool that is caught up with his great playing ability, but he is clearly out of his depth as a coach.

The team won by about 120 points, and they are going on like they lost the game. What were they expecting 200 points?

Really hope Wagner wins, looks like he's got real potential as a second/third forward option. I'm not sure how tall he is though.

Waylen has so much talent. If he just got some confidence and got his head right - no more of this "I can't do that" bullshit every time he gets given something difficult to do - he could easily make it. Depends how the rest of the series goes but I think someone will look at him in November.

i was actually surprised they won

I think the point was not how much they won by, but if any of these lads want to have a crack at the big time, did they meet their KPI's? Clearly no, even though Dixon's theatrics were OTT and for the camera.

How much of a unit is Peter Street? If he had you face down on the ground and knee in your back, you'd bloody well know about it. Maybe a few Pies supporters can tell us what it's like ;)

Would he have likely been a good AFL player if not cut down by injury? I can't really remember him.

When the draft wasn't as much a science as it is today, he did go Top 4... behind the likes of Headland and Justin Longmuir, but ahead of champions like Hayes and Bolton and long term good players like Fevola, Scotland and Embley... slightly ahead of Vitmains McVeigh, too! :D So you'd imagine he was seen as someone who could have been very good.

Sure, but good luck to him. Seems like a nice enough sort of bloke and a reasonable choice for the role he's filling...it's just that there seems to be less and less for him to do as the series goes on.

All of Leigh Russell's stuff seems forced, as well. I'm not really interested in any of that.
