A reality show full of spuds. It's a shame, I don't care much that it's a reality show, fair enough, but at least put good footballers on the show, you already know about 10 that have no hope, and whoever does win, has got absolute buckleys of playing a senior game. They might make a list, but they'll still be playing VFL for the rest of their career.

Goss is a gun look at his record playing for Old Xavier and in VAFA rep games, Mansen has been killing it in the VAFA as well which is arguably the strongest league in Melbourne. Those 2 certainly aren't spuds, haven't seen any of the others in action so I can't comment.

Rules I'd like to propose for next season, just to see what kind of players it uncovers:

- Must be born between 31/12/1991-31/12/1993 (21-23 years old)
- Must not have played a game (senior or reserves) in the VFL, SANFL, WAFL, NEAFL, NTFL or TSL in the years 2012, 2013 or 2014 (extended to 2011/12 and 2014/15 for NTFL participation).
- Must have been born in Australia
- Must have played at least one game of organised football in each of the years 2012, 2013 or 2014 (extended to 2011/12 and 2014/15 for Northern Territory participants).

This would really limit it strictly to 'local league' footballers who have never "made it", and are at least three years removed from their draft year (2009-2011), but are still young enough and hungry enough to have some potential. Really mine the metro and country leagues for the guys who missed the boat at ages 18-19-20.

Anyone see Lewis Taylors tweet from last night

@LewyTaylor7: DJ happy to see you go. One bloke I would not like to play with. #therecruit” couldn't agree more...
Lucky to have lasted to the second week, was DJ. He needs time to mature as a human , he is definitely a know all that really knows nothing. I think he wanted to be Vossy before the show even started. But had nothing. Once on the ground it was obvious that he was not up to standard.

Now my question to you people in BF land , Hutchy , he was delisted before the end, I wasn't quite sure why. I'll give my answer what I thought.

I think that Vossy and the boys and the Psych, could see his running capacity, was, when at its ultimate he could or would never get quicker, and that put him instantly out of the AFL potential straight away? Anyone add to that. I liked the young bloke and wish him well.

TBH, his type (skinny mid-sized flankers with a bit of pace) are really dime-a-dozen these days, and without something to differentiate him (eg. elite foot skills), he's never really going to stand out.

Has played league footy for East Perth so I reckon this might be the case.
I thought they originally said that no VFL, WAFL, SANFL players were allowed to participate.

Pretty sure Hutchy is a key defender - hence why Vossy playing him on a flank or a wing and relying on his disposal inside 50 was stupid.
It's all well and good to try players in different positions to test their versatility but i dont think he deserved to be cut for it

190cm, but still just 83kg at age 23, not sure he'll ever be big enough to be a true key defender at AFL level, most likely why he was being tried in other roles.

That's not that bad. Michael Johnson plays at 88kg for Freo, but is 5cm taller.

BF should start its own recruit show. Call it 'Who Wants to be a Big Footy-aire'. And players can play where they wanna play, and we won't make up rules as we go along, and there'll be stats to back stuff up, and where kneeing people in the throat is against the rules.

Considering how multicultural Australia is there is no way the bolded should be included.

In a similar vein the nuggety mid-twenty midfielders (Semmel, Jackel) without elite endurance or elite skills have no chance of making it. There's dozens of younger mids coming through the u/18s each year who are better bets. So it's really down to Wagner, Manson, Goss or maybe Maxwell.

Can't think of anyone who's over 21, sub-6'3" and sub-85kg, who is playing as a key defender at AFL level TBH. He really needs another 10kg of muscle if he wants to be a key defender, or he just needs to embrace his natural shape and athleticism and become a running backman at the next level.

And even then, they get overlooked when coming out of the U/18 system (see the majority of Morrish Medalists).

Probably not necessary, you're right. Basically, I'm trying to limit the competition to guys that are footballers first, and are actually playing footy outside the state leagues, not just fly-ins or ring-ins from other countries or other sports. I think my "Must have played at least one game of organised football in each of the years 2012, 2013 or 2014 (extended to 2011/12 and 2014/15 for Northern Territory participants)" rule might cover that, but a "must have resided in Australia from 2012-present" rule might cover all bases too.

I love the potential of the non-footy guys in the comp, and those sort of guys excite me in a footy context in general, but I'm really trying to see who the draft system "missed", that is playing outside of the state leagues at the moment, that would be AFL standard. I don't think there are too many TBH, but you never know.

Agree with this. I look at Matt Suckling who fits this mould and he is an excellent kick by AFL standards and I wouldn't say he stands out as such. Good player and I'm a fan, but he is dime-a-dozen in a lot of attributes.

They must know something we don't if Goss is the least favorite at $26

Pretty shattered there is a max bet because there are some extremely strong rumours is that he's in the top 3....

Note Wagner, Goss and Moreland havent played too much local footy this season.... I think you can work it out....

Moreland has played at least the last 5 games but I believe is not playing tomorrow for his club

means nothing. I reckon Jackel has played maybe 2 ? Many weeks apart.

Wait wait you can bet on this? Even though the final result has already been determined?
How is that a good idea?
Hard to believe hey
