I think this is a joke, but just in case... Vossy was going on about how bad his skinfolds were, and that he was essentially fat. Thought it was a massive effort to get up and win a series of fitness tests.

Gossy was just unlucky the injury hit him at the wrong time, still think he's a massive chance of at least making a rookie list.
They rowed for what 1:24, probably about 500m rowing. That's much more a power test than a fitness test. The strong guy one. Then the swimming is a coordination test. 25m isn't fitness it was pretty much a test of who could dive and swim with technique and who couldn't. Same for boxing. Definitely a fitness aspect as the bout went on but it pretty much came down to whether you were a better boxer than the guy you came up against. Irish v volleyballer I'm probably taking the Irish guy most times.

They showed the skin folds for everyone when they were highlighting Vossy's drop. Most of the others were in the 30-40's range. Pod was in the 80's for whatever that means. If he did make the final 3 I'm sure he could be training all through the time between filming and now and be well ahead of a lot of under 18 draftees.

But I'm pretty sure he's done enough time filling the story line and he'll be gone next week.

On pure football ability in terms of the game and how it is and right now going forward I think it's a close call between Wagner and Bradie for who wins it.
Wagner has the youth on his side being 23, has good speed and skills and is a modern day player who could play all over the ground. Seems to have his head in the right space and that's a big part of being elite.
Bradie has all the attributes for a projhect type player with his height, agility and flexibility (similar to a Blicvas) but his physicality is just not what it needs to be for AFL standard and I can't see it changing greatly. But in terms of winning the show I really think Voss, Dixon and Burgess love what he brings and would definitely think he is worth putting time into to develop at a club.
Moreland is a great workhorse and a tough little midfielder who will has the skill to play but fear that the off field side of his game will just not stand up. On pure footballer if you were picking someone he'd be my winner. Definitely likes a good time off the field however.
Semmel is just not going to cut it with his fitness, even though he has good football smarts. I think he'll be next gone.
Reece is exciting and he is another one of these 'project' players who has shown good skills and smarts in adapting to AFL. Seems to be a good runner, he would be the smokey of the lot.
Padrig he could be anything, but doesn't seem like he will be the winner of the show. Needs more time to grasp the game.

WINNER - Bradie
R/UP - Wagner
3rd - Moreland
4th - Reece
5th - Padrig
6th - Semmel

The swimming and rowing were tests not on power but for following direction from the Olympic talent instructing them.

You could see how frustrated the high performance coach was by only 3 out of 7 guys executing the technique as shown.

They were following instructions and only three of them executed it, I expect that will play a big role in choosing who goes into the three.

I think they are being a bit harsh on his physicality. Sure he could be the next Jack Watts, but Sandilands was pretty soft in his first couple of years too. Now he is one of the more "bash and crash" ruckman that Voss seems to love.

I had to chuckle about guys being afraid to approach Voss, and Voss chuckling away. Maybe a hint why he lost the trust of the younger guys over at Brissie.

I was the opposite and thought it was a perfect episode to have to see how far the boys have come from their initial fitness tests.
Going to AIS, gives them an experience on what an elite sports facilities looks like.
And the army challenge obviously fits rights with teamwork and leadership skills you need to play AFL.

The army challenge had too much 'plugging the sponsor' for me and I zoned out a bit, admittedly. But I do know, I would have much preferred another game, over that.

based on this http://www.topendsports.com/testing/tests/skinfolds.htm, 61-80 is good and 40-60 is "excellent". If the guys are in the 30-40 range thats either wrong or they are elite. Padrig being 80 isn't that bad really. He didn't look that fat. Maybe a couple of kgs extra but he is a big guy who should be throwing his weight around. I doubt Mumford / Minson would be much lower on the skinfolds.

Strategically, the best move Padraig could have made was to save Gossy and throwing in one of the best competitors like Johann. With Gossy going Padraig is guaranteed final 6. He could have guaranteed himself final 5 by saving Gossy. Vossy would have had to delist one of his other fit competitors meaning one less person for Padraig to have to beat.

Of course the Captain could do that every week meaning Gossy gets to the finale...

I think I watch too much Survivor for my own good.

There is about 10 minutes of worth while footage out of this show each week, yet I still IQ it and tune in.

Wagner is streets above in football talent and looks to be the only one who could play a few cameo seasons in the AFL. Brady is soft as butter. Would get mauled in the hit outs and can't see him taking big marks around the ground...no good for mine.

I'm pretty glad the Irish fella won. Good to finally see a glimpse of why he's on the show.

Despite him being "fat", he still beat Bradie in the beep test and smashed the rowing and swimming. The rowing was particularly notable, that's bloody hard work.

Selective editing. He didn't beat Bradie even though they showed Bradie drop out first. You could clearly hear the beep call out level 12.12 when Padraig finished up but it showed that Bradie scored 13.0. Not much diff but Bradie still beat him.

Also with the rowing, taller guys are at a much bigger advantage. Brilliantl test though, the boys were going flat knacker as witnessed with Yoey nearly passing out.

I picked that up too but why would Padraig still be running when Bradie pulled out and not vice versa? It's like the visual didn't match the audio

Yes they certainly would. No way would they be playing full time ruck roles with skin folds above 60.

The only reason I watch the 'rate your mate' segment is the slim hope that one of the guys will call out Leigh Russell for being a waste of oxygen.
I don't mind her. I suspect the rate your mate section is quite lengthy and they need someone who's used to that environment to question them. Of course, once it's all edited down to suit the story it doesn't look like she does much.
