I'm no expert, but I'm not too sure why we would expect Victorians to be especially worse at those swimming tasks than people from other states. It wasn't like they were attempting anything that was too advanced. Plus Moreland is from the Surf Coast and I believe Semmell is from around the Mornington Peninsula. Water wouldn't exactly be a foreign concept to them.

No reason other than Victoria is ****ing cold and swimming isn't nearly as popular there as it is in WA or NSW.

It's a bit warmer than Ireland though.

I don't know, I'm no better than a competent swimmer, and if six footy teammates of mine were picked out at random, I'd be surprised if any of them looked as bad as the Victorians looked in that challenge. They couldn't even dive off the blocks. I think it was an anomaly, especially with two hailing from near the beach.

The Jackel and Waylen leave and now no-one cares about the program!
The show's lack of footy content is the main drawback.

I watched the first 4 episodes and really liked the show, but haven't really bothered to watch since.

Now that I know all the players, I pretty much get all the updates on here.

How often would people dive off a block into the water?

Swimming in the ocean for a couple of strokes is different to swimming the length of a pool too.

I really don't see how it differs that much from diving off a board, or off the side of a public swimming pool. And I assume Goss went to Xavier, where presumably they would have done a fair bit of swimming in P.E.

People swim for leisure at the beach far more often than they swim for leisure at a swimming pool, don't they? Even if you do regularly swim or dive for fun at a swimming pool, you probably just jump in however you like, with no concern for "technique". It's hardly something the average joe really practices.

Well, that would depend on how close a person lives to a beach, wouldn't it?

It's not about getting your technique to Olympic standard; it's about trying to avoid doing a belly whacker (something that a few of them comprehensively failed). And my friends and I when I was growing up must differ from the Average Joe, because it was pretty standard behaviour for us whenever we'd roll down to the local pools when we were kids.

Well, the majority of the country's population is located along coastline. Odds are for most that a beach isn't too far away.

I would have thought most kids would try and get away with doing a bomb or causing some sort of big splash, and generally having fun with it, rather than worrying about doing a proper dive in.

Once you get to your early-to-mid 20s, like the blokes on the show, you probably barely ever go to a pool to swim. Pretty easy to get out of practice with stuff like that, that you probably never really focused on to begin with.

Odds are for most that live in metro Melbourne, they're driving past half a dozen or more swimming pools to get to a beach.

Maybe, but it's not like kids arrive at the pool, get changed, do one bomb, stay in the water for a couple of hours, then get out and go home. They'd be 'getting in' the pool several times and, as a wise person once said, the only wrong way to get in a pool is via the stairs.

I would be shocked if Old Xavs didn't have multiple sessions in the pool during their preseason. It's pretty standard for any local footy club, especially the 'Old Boys' clubs, with the resources at their disposal at the schools and their sporting complexes.

The dive from the pool side turns into a belly flop when you start it a foot and a half above the pool.

I'd say there gets to be a bit more splash as you turn a bit more and your legs go flying a bit, but the basic form of the hands, arms and head going in the water first would stay the same.

Was happy to see Semmel out before the game, few tickets to many on himself IMO

Yoey to win? Wouldn't rule out Bradie getting drafted as well

Well, Yoey making the final was pretty much a foregone conclusion from a long time ago, so no surprises there.

Didn't think Bradie Foster would make it, reckon Reece Maxwell is seriously stiff there.

Moreland seems like your tough as nails footballer, can kick on both feet and appears to have decent skills and work rate.

Darren Burgess has been a massive wrap for Bradie since the show started (heard him an interview before the 2nd episode listing his top 3 standouts as Yoey, Bradie and Maxwell). I reckon he had a massive influence on him getting into the top 3.

Yoey or Bradie.

Moreland has reached his peak.

Thought Padraig was stiff as more people put him in their top 3 than Morlo.

Bradies potential upside given his size would be a huge reason he is top 3
