The recruit

I enjoyed it, that run from Etihad to the MCG with bricks was intriguing to me as a Port supporter because it gave me an idea of some of the things Darren Burgess may have done with our players over the pre-season.

Sad to see some kids already denied their chance so early on.

Entertaining if not a little unrealistic, how Waylon even got past the first cut was beyond me, his fitness levels are shocking.

Will watch it though, interesting to see if more than just the winner gets picked up in the September draft/bidding process.

I am pretty sure that the Winner is Guaranteed a Spot on a AFL List

Not exactly guaranteed, they will be given a spot as a "category B" rookie, which is the same as an international rookie.

The process for the draft that will be held in the week leading up to the prelim is that all 18 clubs will attend a meeting and if there is one or more players that seem "draftable" a bidding auction will take place. No word yet on how this bidding works but this will be an official AFL draft.

This explains it better;

Thanks.

I think the Winner is already Known

Out of Waylon and the rookie ruckman convert from basketball.

I'll tip the basketballer
he was good for a bloke that has not played much footy.

I liked Waylon, The Shaggy haired bloke built like a brick wall, the Vollyballing ruckman and the other non AFL bloke. Didnt like the artogant tassie bloke, cant remember the wagner bloke. Who was the bloke whokicked 8 goals in the wet?

If that sports psychologist (read token woman) had said "mindset" one more time I would have puked...

Watched it, was ok, the build up closer to the live draft Premlinary week will be the highlight I guess. Seen Goss play a lot with Xavier, plays a bit like Brad Plain (I think thats how it's spelt) regular kick 80+ a year... bit of a FIGJAM though.

That's the thing with recruiting though right, you can train people to become fitter and have more endurance, but the freakish intangibles he possesses are not able to be taught. I think they did the two 'qualifying' activities the wrong way around, they should have started with a scratch match and then the running race.

According to some, Waylon is likely to be seriously considered by a number of clubs regardless of the result of this show. I would be happy for our club to give him a rookie spot.

It was a competition between "mindset" and "elite". She used every cliche in the book, such as "coachable". She is quite "watchable", so I'll tune in next Wednesday.
Good that Ben Dixon is there for comic relief, to stop it being too serious.

Not Really Interested in it. Seeing the Ad them doing Bungy Jumping at Ethihad Turned me off it a bit

 bungee jumping off Etihad made you not watch it.
