I used to spank that bloke as a junior.
Never rated him as a state level bowler, just that SA lacks depth in that area.
Played one season of junior (primary school) cricket ~ I was terrible

One kid on the team ended up playing a bit of shield cricket for SA and Tas (Chris Duval) and I remember thinking the balls he would bowl at me were the fastest things I'd ever encounter... He even ended up getting scouted by MLB scouts because of how fast he could throw the ball...

... this is really unrelated on hindsight, but I guess your post made me think of it for the first time in ages...

Jace Bode (norwood player) was one of the quickest bowlers when I was a kid.
Another one who could clock it up believe it or not was Mark Cosgrove.

I remember that George fella that played for the redbacks used to bowl nice juicy half volleys on a regular basis.

This thread became the official Redbacks thread quite organically and naturally for a reason. A single shield in 20 years won't change that.
They've won an ODD tournament, finished r/up this year and also won the inaugural t20 comp.

Personally I reckon the Adelaide Lightning are giving the Redbacks a fair run in the last decade.

Peter George? Who played a test for us 4/5 years ago?

Thats two quality bowlers you've rubbished then.

I think point being they were the best of a bad bunch and an indication as to why the redbacks have won very little silverware in the past 20 years.
George even playing a test is an indication that he is/was at least a decent state player.
And Putland also has a respectable state record, despite the constant injuries.

Not claiming they're superstars, but they've both had better than average state careers.
