Just wondering if AD had wished he handled things differently now, or is he just that arrogant that he thinks he is right all the time. With the amount of support MR is getting he is starting to look like total control freak. Not thats any news to me, hated the way he came over here and told us that we are going to Adelaide Oval and thats it....Is there any way we can call for a vote of no confidence and get the him neutered.

According to Demetriou, Rendell resigned of his own free will and was not pressured to do so.

We'll see what he has to say on Classified. We should also find out if he was talking in the present tense or referring to a pathway the league is heading down, which Demetriou made his best efforts to acknowledge might have been the case without actually clarifying, because it would have weakened his position.

Either way, I think after the normal period of equalization post these dramatic events that there is an emerging feeling that losing his job was too harsh and an overreaction, and there were other alternatives not explored. Whether that was of his own choice or the club/AFL's, we will find out soon.

I hope MR tells the truth and exactly what he told Trigg.

Not what his lawyers have advised him to say, with the comfort of his mate Grant Thomas by his side. Really hope Caro seeks out what really happened and it is laid out on the table.

I fear the former may be the case.

So AD said neither the AFL nor the AFC pressured Matt. If Rendell says anything other than I wanted to resign and there was no pressure from anywhere to do so, the AD or MR OS a liar.

What Sheahan didn't ask, was what was Trigg's reaction when you told him about Rendell's comments?

Edit - he didn't say that the AFC didn't pressure Matt. From AD's comments it sounds as though the club gave MR an ultimatum and he said **** off I'm quiting.

AD has conveniently distanced himself from MR's resignation/sacking and in the process has now left Trigg out on his own.
And yes the dung heap is getting bigger by the minute!!!

I dont believe Vlad. His anger midweek when he knew who it was contradicts his story tonight. I feel that Trigg wanted MR to give him something to take to Vlad to defend him. But MR's case or at least his explanation to Trigg, may not have been strong enough to do so.

I'm tipping this wasn't a 'go to your room for an hour and think about what you did' type thing where continuing on in your job as you are is one of the options for you to consider.

Think about whether your position here is still tenable more like it.

Matty shouldn't have had to back down. Because the context of what he said hasn't changed. He still said what he said as a way of getting a point accross to the AFL. "The way things are going, it's going to get to the point where.....insert out of context quote".

I'm pissed at how Trigg handled the Bernie situation, but with this quote being launched into the media in isolation, and AD hounding the media with his "pack his bags" comments, inaction by the club would have been a PR disaster. Of course.....Rendell 'resigned'.......

Trigg has made mistakes, but c'mon.

What also needs to be considered by people having a go at Trigg is that the club is involved in a program in the APY Lands that has government funding attached. That is what the club had to consider in light of the comments made by Matty Rendell and what might happen with that program. Rock and a hard place.

Now, from what I have understood from what has been reported and I am still waiting for the full context, but I think it is more along the lines of what Wall-E has said above. Unfortunately Matty is very open about his opinions and this has been the unfortunate ending of a great career. The amount of support though for him should make Vlad re-think his own rash comments and snap judgement without seeking further clarification. Did not for one minute believe his version was exactly what he said and the careful wording he used to express what happened.

I think there was implied pressure. He doesn't need to outright express what he wants the club to do. The wording he used on Tuesday left the club in no uncertain terms what he wanted to happen and then allowing Mifsud to give that interview, with AFL officials sitting in on the meeting, it was planned to put as much outside pressure on Adelaide so that he could continue to push the Indigenous programs and how well they work in the AFL. He pushed that barrow again On the Couch about how they are better than any other program. The Jurrah incident is definitely a catalyst to a lot of this becuase if and it is only an if, he is found guilty it does not look good for the AFL and the Indigenous programs considering how high profile it is.

Funnily enough, if Demetriou came out and gave an honest answer I'd probably start respecting him.

So until he says 'no-one tips a bucket of shit on my baby GWS and gets away with it' I'll continue to think he's a fat control freak.

Carl, the fact that the AFL disclosed a private conversation in a public setting is enough to have blood on their hands - they deliberately made it an issue, once that happened, something had to give.

The AFL are to blame here, not Trigg. After the interview from AD tonight, I would have thought that came pretty clear. Cmon people, the Bernie thing shouldn't cloud your judgement. Why on earth would you want Trigg to get us in the bad books with the AFL? That is the other option for christ sakes.
