Well the only person who can clear this up now is Jason Mifsud.
The comments were made to him (and a few others according to Vlad) and he is the only person who can back up Rendell's version of events and whether or not it's true.
He started this and it is now time for him to come out and finish it. If he is half of the spectacular human being that Demetriou made him out to be on the couch, then he will have no hesitation in telling us all how it transpired and the context it was delivered in.

If this incident happened at Collingwood then MR would have been out the door before he could even blink.
No club - Collingwood more than most - can afford to be tarred with the brush of racism. Make no mistake about it, the directive came down from AFL House and Trigg had no choice but to make the decision he did. I feel sorry for him as the meat in the sandwich.

the club was backed into a corner by Hehr Demetriou as far back as last Thursday when if said the person who made the quote 'will need to find another job'.
The clubs biggest source of income is from the AFL.
They run the show on every level.

Even if Demetriou and co went to Trigg and said "I demand you sack Rendell" - we still have a choice.

Carl's boycott thread got deleted outright because it's just a childish reactive piece of rubbish and the internet is better off without the waste of electrons.
Most of them have been merged into this thread. No point in having 10 separate threads on exactly the same topic.

When the situation is so grossly unfair as it is, it would be nice for trigg to show some balls. The majority of football people, fans, and those within the industry would support it because they know this is bullshit.

Collingwood is worth far more to the AFL than we are and therefore when they talk the AFL will listen, maybe. We are nothing but a lowly outer Club who actually need help from the AFL for our existence. You tell me now how we can afford to start behaving like a Collingwood?

I've completely switched sides after watching it (and rewatching it). I've read a lot on this board. In the past 18 months, and listened to a lot of mates screaming that Trigg is part of the problem, but I was prepared to give the benefit of the doubt.

Had this taken place in Collingwood or even the Jeff Kennett run Hawthorn, there is NO WAY in hell those 2 real leaders would do what Trigg did here. They would get the full story and in this case back their man.
It might be OK in your world to do what Trigg did here but I believe integrity is far more important than being a yes man. What he did was assist in ruining man's reputation. Matt Rendell has been called a racist since last friday. His integrity and professionalism has been called into question and this has quite clearly ruined him reputation in wider world of AFL, the reputation that took him 35 years to build.
I am not sure how Trigg can sleep at night considering what he has pulled here and on a so called mate. Maybe I am different but I would rather re-sign myself than have a hand in damaging a reputation of an innocent man. I am sorry I can't cop that. Its gutless!
