I hope Matt gets to explain himself. As for everyone laying into him, pathetic. The man has done wonders for this club and you sink the boot into him at this time. He just lost his ****en job (it was untenable no doubt, but a hefty price for a comment)

Many might not know that is was Hamish Ogilvie that identified Dangerfield as a priority. In fact, the majority of recruits from the eastern states can be attributed to Hamish's observations and recommendations.
He is extremely competent and will fill the role without fuss.

I feel for him. Just a loose cannon though. If he thought before he spoke he would still have his job. I don't think he is racist in any way. Club had no choice.

Was a dumb comment, in any circumstances, but hopefully he provides context to prove it was dumb, and nothing more.

This should have been handled in house by the AFL.
Rendell could have been dealt with without going public.
Once it hits the media this stuff snowballs and can only end badly.
Don't know if it's over yet but the AFL should investigate how it got out.
Nothing good can come from this, there are no winners. We've lost a good man who now will be tagged as a racist.

In light of recent events with the melbourne player and other Aborigional players upping and leaving at random times, I can understand to some extent why clubs wouldnt want the hassle but its one of those things you would/should never say out loud.

Really don't know what to make of this. Matt has recruited quite a few indigenous guys, and I really doubt there's any malice or racism behind the comments. You get the feeling he's been hung out to dry to a certain extent, and this is more about keeping up appearances than what he actually said/intended. Pretty disappointing all round.

i hope that we come out of this unscathed (eg we don't start losing sponsors etc)
