So the way to avoid that is don't make contact with the head.

Don't try and tell me that Yep and McGovern weren't completely avoidable.
Looks like your finger might have brushed something other than what you had intended it to make contact with.
That's a week for you, pal.

(I do agree with you though. We need to be mentally tougher)

You’re missing the point.

Complain about this then five seconds later complain our players have no guts and play with no mongrel and always get pushed around.

Incidental head high contact happens all the time, and will forever happen. It’s a contact sport. Pushing at a stoppage is part of football. The system that penalises people at random is the issue, not the players.

The system is what it is, there is nothing the club or players can do about that.

How they go about engaging their opponents is something completely in their control.

Not making contact with chest/shoulder won't result in players coming across as being pushovers.

Which other players have been suspended or charged with intentional/high contact/low impact this year from a strike/shove/push sliding up? I actually can't think of any.

We have had 2.

Which of course means they are the only two incidents of such things happening, right?

You cannot base your existence trying to play to a system that decides at random.

Midfielders push eachother. If we decide to never push back we will be slaughtered on field. I will take our mids playing football and hope for the best at the lottery that is the MRP over our mids refusing to play football so we can stay squeaky clean by a broken system that punishes people one in every hundred incidents.

Campaigners gonna campaign I guess.

Pies board is full of complaints their team was soft as butter in the face of our aggression. I'll risk a week off and a 10 goal win over that thanks.

So they can either suspend him on the basis of:
1) He hit Wills in the head because Wills' reaction was such that he mUsT hAvE hIt HiM; or
2) Yeo's admission that he might have brushed Wills' throat amounts to high contact and the force could not have been negligible because of Wills' reaction.

It's maddening as a criminal lawyer to see that even be put forward, let alone to see their inevitable vindication by the 'jury'.

Yep. It was completely gutless that there was hardly any remonstration after Dom gave Adams a tummy tickler.

That isn't what I am saying, and you are creating a false binary by saying it is one or the other.

Hitting people in the head isn't football.

You don't understand. The AFL could be facing future lawsuits in the hundreds of millions of dollars for the way the game has been played. They want NO CONTACT with the head. So unless we want our players sitting on the sidelines regularly we're gonna have to tell them to aim a little lower and stay away from striking people in places it could slide up and make contact with the head.

Sorry guys, that is footy in 2020.
