Magnificent work by the defence. Just to be clear throwing your elbow back at an opponent is fine as long as you hit his collarbone before you hit his neck.

Shouldn't have been suspended as there was nothing in it, Ryan played it up significantly but surely that isn't body contact? If I tackle someones neck thats a high tackle no? Of course it was high.

Another blow for the "The AFL don't want any head high contact so our players need to wise up" argument.
You can get suspended for pushing but not elbowing. If you elbow someone in the collarbone then head that's fine because the impact was collarbone first, but if you bump someone legally and then they hit their head on the ground you have a duty of care to their head. A raised forearm as your opponent runs past is fine provided its insufficient force.
The message that the head is sacrosanct has been muddied beyond oblivion.
I have no issue with Hawkins getting off due to insufficient force, but to green light that incident as body contact is opening yourself to a world of confusion down the line.

The neck is clearly not high. Why do those campaigners always include the neck with your frozen chook at the supermarket if it wasn't part of the body?
It was a bullshit suspension anyway, just like Yeo’s.

Both yeo and Hawkins 1 week suspensions were the biggest load of crap . Glad both got off

The insufficient force is rubbish. Every media outlet shows the replay in slow motion. Anyone who thinks an elbow to the neck is insufficient force and not high should volunteer for some big brute like Hawkins to elbow them in that manner.
