Just to confirm, it is a 2 week suspension.

Lynch was given 325 points for the bump, and 80 points for the strike.

He gets 25% discount for good behaviour over a 5 year period, and and additional 25% discount if he decides to plead guilty.

The points from any one game add up, so he therefore gets 182.81 points for the bump, and 45 points for the strike, being 227.81 points in total.

This is equal to a 2 week ban, with 27.81 carry over points.

IMO we should challenge the bump. If he loses, he still gets the good behaviour discount, so would get 243.75 points. This, plus the 45 points for the early guiltly plea on the strike, would mean he still misses 2 games but gets 88.75 carryover points for any future offence.

No harm in trying then? :(

I'm confused.

On One Week At a Time they said Lynch can take 1 week with an early plea, are they wrong as well?

Edit: Just read Jeeves' post, they are correct.
See post above, can take one week (100 points) for the bump, but the 82 carryover points neeed to be added to the 45 points from the strike, therefore a 2 match ban and 27 carryover points if Lynch pleads guilty as it stands.

By the looks of it Lynch must have accepted.

I'm staggered we didn't fight the bump ban.

SUrely negligent at best as he was running after the ball in the same direction as Murphy.

Murphy turned into lynch - and as such Lynch made contact.

WIth Lynch's good record - all we would have risked is extra carryover points and considering they get wiped in 12 months - it's not much of a risk

Staggered we aren't fighting it with nothing to lose

Edit: Just noticed we are on the west - the afl website usually has great coverage but is really sh1t this round.

So we are contesting? Yeah, the AFL site only talks about Jordan Lewis contesting his charge.

Would be hard for Lynchy not knowing. I guess regardless of the outcome on 5 July he will most likely miss Geelong, the best we can probably hope for is a downgrade of the charge and probably a week on the sidelines.

Yeah - the grading won't go below 225 points - so either way he'll miss a week - so won't affect any planning

Surely he can argue that he didn't make contact and he, in fact, farted as he went past, that's why he put his hand in the air, excusing himself, this is what snapped Murphy's head back.! :D Any chance? :p

Sounds plausible to me :thumbsu:

Your honour, it is our case Player Murphy deliberately gave Player Lynch a savage headbutt to the buttocks region

Lynch won't play WAFL this week. He has played every game so far this season. There is every chance that the decision can be downgraded and thereby reduce the points. I have seen far worse get off this season.

He will miss one game regardless of the appeal. He plays in the WAFL this week, has the Geelong game off and then back against St Kilda. He still gets a break but he gets to keep his match fitness up.

That is not true as you don't even know the grounds he is appealing on. They may be trying to get the case thrown out on a technicality of some sort. A player is not going to lose match fitness by not playing for two weeks.

I thought you couldn't play in the WAFL if you were suspended in the AFL?

Technically Lynch has been suspended, pending appeal...seems odd if stalling the appeal until after our AFL bye would allow him to get a WAFL game in.
He hasn't been suspended thorough. The MRP doesn't suspend players, the tribunal does. As the tribunal hasn't heard the case he hasn't been suspended yet.

That makes sense... in which case what I don't like (in principle) is the fact that we were allowed to push the tribunal hearing back a week.

I think it is fair. You can't play WAFL if you suspended in the AFL but because he was suspended the week before a bye his two week ban in the AFL becames a three week ban in the WAFL solely due to the timing of the bye. Now it will be a two week ban in both the AFL and the WAFL.
