A bugbear of mine as well.

With all the money in the game how the AFL allows every presser to go out without anyone being able to hear the questions is gobsmacking.
There is a huge amount of money in the AFL but very little is actually put to improving the product for consumers. Its all about lining their own pockets and junket trips for the boys club

Give him a bit of a chance, he just lost his Father and is learning a new system, he will take a bit more than 1 game to fit in and feel more confident.
He could have had 2 shots for goal playing on McGovern and also helping out in the Ruck.
hes played 1 good game in 10 years where he took 6 marks apart from that done absolutely nothing, I personally just dont see it, maybe just playing a role bringing the ball to ground will be enough but having no Joe and replacing him with day has significantly weakened our forward line

The most goals hes kicked in a season is 19 over a decade ago

We'll get to watch a good coaching match up this week between Dennis Pagan and the undoubted best coach ever, Chris Scott.

And what about the other options that have 0 good games as a key forward?

Oscars ability as a forward is grossly overestimated on this board
couldn't be much worse than day

just looked at last weeks stats I didnt even realise it was that bad, Day had 3 kicks, 1 missed directly infront, 1 hit his shin and was a horrendous kick and the other I have no idea what it was, ill take Oscar thanks

5 score involvements, 3 hitouts to advantage looks pretty good to me

yeah Wayne Carey like, as I pointed out 1 of those score involvements was 1 of the worst kicks ive ever seen and I assume it also accounts for the miss from directly infront also
Yes, he misses a sitter but 3 of those other four score involvements resulted in 3 goals
He would have been one of our lowest rated players and i expect more from him in the future if he is to hold his spot.

But he is a Lions player now and we need to give him a chance to show what he can contribute to the side.
We know what Fort brings to the side, but he is a ruck that can fill forward if needed, same with Oscar.

If the rain continues into tomorrow night any player that has a below average game get a pass from me too.
Day could easily be in that group but so could anyone else.

the other kick he had was the scrubbed kick to McLachlan which resulted in a goal, a horrendous kick only being good fortune and a good finish from McLachlan that led to a goal, I would have to rewatch it to see what the other score involvements were but 2 of the 5 "Score involvements" dont count and since when do we rate players on score involvement anyway

Im unsure if people actually watched the game but it was a terrible first game, I hope he gets better and i'm wrong because that would only be a good thing, my personal opinion is 2 rucks and if thats not looking any good i'm going gallop and somewhere has to pinch hit, Darcy also performed pretty well in the VFL

Gee give the guy a break.
We had players streaming forward not looking for anyone in the first quarter and just having a ping at goal.
Resulting in a couple of points and a few out of bounds and a few easy rebounds for the Eagles
No thought of holding up a bit until a teammate presents. They were overconfident playing a bottom side.

Day took that mark and looked ahead saw McLachlan and tried to get a kick towards him fairly quickly.
The ball actually hit the guy on the mark's fingers that made the kick wobble.
He tried to do the team thing which resulted in a goal. I will take that anytime.

A lot of BF posters prefer two rucks like yourself and that's fine.
However, Fagan for many years has stuck to one ruck and 1 forward/ruck relief.
Eventually we won the premiership with that combination.
On a few occasions he has gone with 2 rucks but that is unusual.

that's my point its not 1 game, hes not a first gamer, hes 32. Show me the last good game he played
Oh dear settle down , it’s just a game , give the man a break , it’s not a life threatening situation .

Fagan preferred the 2 rucks for some time but as the game has changed so has he.

Then once we got hold of Daniher it made the 2 rucks redundant.

If Day doesn't shape up we might go back to it.

And there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that shows Oscar doesn't like sharing ruck duties. If the part time ruck isn't offering more than Fort as a forward however we might have to go back to 2 rucks

Assuming Bruce will be sub from that list. Little rough on Shagga to only get one game but can't argue the ins. Bruce is probably more flexible for the sub.

Makes sense for McKenna to get full VFL game
I think VFL has a bye.

I crept over to the Geelong board, and the word is that all 3 emergencies boarded the plane today. O’Connor, Duncan and wiltshere
you are the one mentioning ridiculous stats, 3 hit outs to advantage, you cant be serious, you also said the board overrates Oscar, compared to day he is Wayne Carey
No compared to Day, Carey is the Big O
