Weird huh?

The review involved comparative benchmarking and consultation with key stakeholders within the club

The club’s board, chairman Rob Chapman, chief executive Andrew Fagan and power broker Mark Ricciuto were found to have performed to expectation.

“We are talking about a particularly strong club. Rob Chapman is incredibly impressive a leader. It is an extremely strong business, the only problem was things didn’t go as planned on field.
Pardon my intrusion, but in the corporate world the words bolded = a performance which is below par: especially at senior levels.

We should be asking the club to release all of the things that the view found that we were actually super excellent at. Now what could possibly be the reason for not releasing at least that? The 'harm / distress' factor certainly can't play in.

Unless, you know, there weren't as many excellences as we maybe are suggesting.

I'm not saying it's a sham, but it doesn't make sense.

The article says that members of the executive team were "consulted" not reviewed. To me that suggests a review of the board was outside the scope of the review, and Dunstall has just made some passing comments about Chapman and others.

If Burton was a significant issue, it follows that the people who approved his appointment should be scrutinized. Even if Burton went fully rogue and acted without board consultation or approval, that's still an indictment on their ability to identify and appoint people to key positions
Really, after all this time. It was always reported as an external review of the football department

Fagan was on MMM:

no further changes to personnel
Burton and Campo did a good job, unlucky that we needed new voices in those positions and why they had to go
Burton was qualified for footy ops, kept pumping up his 2017

Basically it was pure unadulterated bullshit spin
Did you expect him to shit on them?

I’m not sure how a CEO and a board chairman can be given a tick by a review after allowing their football department to run amuck. Chapman admitted a lack of communication although he was aware of a problem that was obvious within the football club.
After the Tippet scandal it took time for Trigg to depart but he eventually moved on. I’m thinking the same will happen with the executive.

There’s talking crap and there’s telling the truth. He doesn’t need to shit on them but he’s just sacked them, he hasn’t sacked them for doing a good job.

Plus this is more about taking the heat from themselves for his appointment which was where the question was directed at.

The review is not finished, like all restructure's in business they happen in multiple phases & funnel up.

Phase 1 = Football department
Phase 2 = Line management & commercial
Phase 3 = Board of director's

All focus will be on fixing the football department as seen currently
- fresh air & restructured coaching panel
- fresh playing list
- new football program
- culture change

Don’t disagree but feel there was at least something to it

He seems to have had a bit of an in surrounding the camp storylines and don’t tell me you don’t think JJ would share
I reckon if you go through his various stories on this the clear leaks have been via Carlton connections. Betts Jacobs and McGovern

The scope of Dunstall's review is finished

The Board do a club perfoemance review every year including commercial, sponsorship and memberships...

This is a year by year process so there is no phase 2 amd 3 as you habe stated

With that said I would not be surprised if Roo steps aside at end of year and this is not a result of any review, this will be his decision

QSpok is an idiot but I feel he may be right

McLure on trade radio breakfast yesterday seemed very confident the camp story was still brewing with more articles imminent pending fact checking. When asked why not already he Said players still at club we’re not wanting to create issues.

Feel with the outs this year the media is confident of a story out of it again. If true I just hope the club has actually done enough from the review to get ahead of it, not just ahead of what’s already out there

There may be some attempts at re-sensationalising the camp but why would players supposedly spill their guts at new clubs ? This would just flag their lack of propriety and character to the new clubs they now belong to.

In summary, is that a 50 page document of the findings were presented verbally by dunstall directly face to face to the board. Imagine dunstall reading out players quotes about burton and co directly to chapman etc. Wouldve been great viewing.. and basically gave them no way out of keeping burton and campo.
The comment that really made me annoyed yesterday during that 5aa interview with chapman was when rowey asked if he, roo or fagan would step down aswell and chapman said no, you need a constant when theres change and the constant will be me. I just cant see how him being there is good for anyone. He hss presided over so many failings. Now is the perfect time for him to leave. He just doesnt want to be put in the same basket as burton, pyke and campo. He wants to leave on his own terms with an imaginary fan fare and to be lauded by the media for all his achievements. His head is so far up his own ass its pathetic. The sooner he leaves the better.

Exactly. That's how we roll. My kingdom for a leader......not just a social figurehead.

Someone tell me how the 'culture change' will formally take place. New words incised on stone tablets ? New people and personalities ? A new board direction ? A standout change in demonstrated leadership at the top ? The trickle down/up affect ?

Dont reviews normally last for at least 3 months? if its over already then alot of the issues must have been quite obvious.

Not just Burton, what about the three sacked coaches Chapman has overseen?

What about the ballsed-up poorly-judged contracts of Sanderson and Pyke he signed off on?

What about Tippett-gate and the loss of draft picks, and fines? What about Rendell-gate? What about camp-gate?

What about the abysmal player retention record over the course of a decade on his watch?

What about the zero silverware?

What about the fact that he’s unelected and operates in a club-member environment less democratic than North Korea?

There is absolutely no way, in no sane world, that you could describe Rob Chapman’s time at the Adelaide Football Club as befitting of an “elite industry leader.”

Lucky we didn't have a stuff-up merchant as leader!

The only thing Chapman is elite at is BS.

I feel we need to push disclosure of all findings. What worries me is the rumours are surrounding aboriginal players well-being...

I went through a culture awarness session at work last month run by pt adelaide & there was a video of played of a movie made of the stolen generation and reacted kidnappings ect. The people involved had a breakdown whilst shooting the scene....

Wade Thompson stated this is what went wrong with the Adelaide camp and backed off his comments....

Im just saying i feel this is a huge chunck on what happened and the AFL may wish to keep it under the tarp not the crows management....

Similar things from the AFL happened to buddy and the drug/mental health scandal

Well it was obvious to most of us...

A few points from yesterday’s report

- Burton gone: Thank f**k. pi** off brett
- Head of leadership and culture: f**k off. you cant bring someone in to make culture or control culture. culture just happens. the culture around the adelaide football club is built by the people around the adelaide football club, wether that be the fans or the players it doesent matter. but you cannot bring someone in to control that. also, who is he leading? the issue with our performance is mainly the playing group and thats what the leadership group is designed for.
- campo gone: i have no problems with that, there was obviously an issue there so hopefully that can be resolved
- also: surely there are more than two staff members which created the problem involving our on field performance. unless there are some more changes, there have got to be some things that the review has missed.

Um, huh? You can ... especially if that someone is on the inside. Sure you need buy-in, but having a dedicated person responsible for the direction and development of the club's culture is not a bad thing.
