Nah. You have to pay a compulsory $280 Student Services and Amenities Fee which goes to the guild if you are a full time student. Then you pay your $50 if you want any of the benefits of being a guild member.

Wow, glad I finished uni a few years ago.

Had my results deferred for six semesters in a row due to being too lazy/poor to pay the $60/semester in CSU back then. Was good seeing VSU bought in over the latter half of my time.

Ink cartridges.

Get the printer for $80.

One print cartridge costs $29.

How does this happen?

Is it a deliberate scam?
Lol, of course it's a scam. The companies heavily discount the cost of the printer so you're locked in to purchasing their cartridges. They make the money off the cartridges.

Find a nearby franchise of Cartridge World.

Refill cartridges for $20 (black & white) or around $25 (colour). Dunno how much a toner refill is as I use HP 94 and 95 cartridges but anyway...

Have houses been mentioned yet? Seriously, the materials in a million dollar mansion would be worth a few thousand dollars.
The time of the people to build it is worth a lot more, and any high-demand good in finite supply (e.g high quality homes near the CBD) will have a price far in excess of its raw material 'worth'. That said, housing prices at over 50% of a decent dual income for an average mortgage in eastern-coast cities are ridiculous.

Coke [ drinking type]

How is it a 1.25 or 2 lt bottle or box of 24 cans even on special can still cost way more than Pepsi ?

because coke is 5x better than pepsi, yet sells for far less of a multiple.

same reason a bmw costs more than a hyundai.

the Pepsi Challenge wasn’t just an ad gimmick. It really is true that blind taste tests suggest that people like it better than Coke. Yet people keep buying more Coke. One theory of this “Pepsi Paradox,” described by Lone Frank in Scientific American, is that we should take the Pepsi Challenge at face value. Coke’s victory is a triumph of branding over flavor, and a clear sign that consumer companies should invest lots of money in advertising. Researchers intrigued by the paradox have suggested that Coke’s ads actually rewire the human brain.

I drink a lot of coke and can definitely tell the difference between it and Pepsi.

Occasionally I'll ask for a coke at a pub or something and they'll bring me a Pepsi without telling me they don't stock coke. I'll taste it and send it back and get a lemonade instead. Pepsi tastes like shit.

Have friends that are the same. Coke is a far better product.

The only upside of perth prices is living there and then travelling, basically anywhere else in Australia or indeed the world, and feeling like everything is a bargain. Pub meals, alcohol, restaurants are the major offenders, it's gotten to the point where pub meal plus a pint and you are lucky to escape with much change from a fifty.

If you are young single and working a 70-80 grand job in perth, a big Friday night every week will ruin you.

Lol you actually send back a soft drink at a pub?

"Wrong brand sir, replace my softie!!"

Funny though I swore off most soft drinks about a year ago, now if I have one it's a sugarfree version. They used to taste like absolute shit but now I don't mind them, I guess I've got over the sweetness.

But if I happen to have a Pepsi now I can enjoy it, whilst I find Coke horrible. Absolutely sickly, like pure sugar.

Intersting to note that in pubs over here in the UK Pepsi and Coke are completley interchangable for the most part. People ask for a "vodka and coke" and by default we use pepsi from the gun instead of bottled coke. Probably 1 in 100 actually wants Coke, everyone else is content with Pepsi.
Then again people over here find it perfectly acceptable to add lemonade or lime cordial to beer so their opinion is worth taking with a grain of salt. Personally I prefer coke as a mixer and if I'm given pepsi instead I'll send it back.
