So, did anyone else decide to watch smackdown today for the sake of it?

The Edge vs Kane saga recap made me lol, tbh.

Is Raw's replay still on saturdays at like 11:30 after The Simpsons? Might watch it, looked at their roster before and I haven't heard of any of the current title holders except for The Miz who is WWE champion (wtf?).

Absolutely loved The Rock. Was easily the funniest wrestler and most entertaining to watch.

Rock:"you're pretty tall, how tall are you?"

Camera Guy:"bout

Rock:"It doesn't matter how tall you are!!!"

Rock: ''Is that a WCW shirt? The Rock was the one who WCW to rest, take that shirt off.''

*Guy takes shirt off*

Rock:'' Oh good god put that shirt back on, put it right back on.''

I completely destroyed myself once thanks to the Rock.

I was taking a nap on my couch, woke up and discovered I had kicked a couch pillow onto the floor. The pillow was just laying there looking innocent, and if you're on this appreciation thread and picturing this scene, you're probably aware that the pillow was begging for some People's Elbow. I launched into this classic, nay iconic finishing move and...MISSED the ****ing pillow, driving the hard edge of my elbow into the unyielding wood floor. Complete destruction. It still aches on cold rainy days.

Whoever says wrestling is fake has never mis-landed a People's Elbow.

Peace,

Sad that he sold out in the end. I think he understimates just how huge he could of become by just staying with wrestling and continuing the character. Would of literally became one of the most loved television characters of all time.

Instead hes a bit of a nobody. Took the easy way out and when his time goes no one will remember him as well as they could of if he took another direction

Understand your sentiments, but he already reached the pinnacle of wrestling and then some. There wasn't much more he could've achieved in the industry. As it is, he will still be remembered as one of the most loved characters of all time and people will still remember him as amongst the handful of elite wrestlers in what was probably its finest hour.

I agree with your post in general but surely leaving wrestling to try and make it as an actor is the harder way?

Not when a acting career comes as gift wrapped as the one got was. A blind albino with a ranga afro could of played the role of the Scorpion King and looked good at doing it.

I dont think he will be remembered at all PowerKing. Not anywhere near a Hulk Hogan im afraid. Longevity is important.

His first acting gig was gift wrapped but he has done well to continue on from that. He is a good actor and has risen to the challenge. The quality of some of his movies is questionable but he plays the part well.

In regards to his star power, Hogan was the first real star so it's hard for anyone to reach that level. I see Austin and The Rock as the two big names that will be remembered from the period I watched and what most people seem to have watched. Then you have Undertaker, HBK, Triple H etc. Obviously McMahon as well due to both his character and the fact that he is the owner. None matched Austin or The Rock though imo.

Think the revenue his movie makes suggest otherwise... When was his last movie anyway?

I said the quality of his movie's is questionable. But from the ones I have seen, Welcome to the Jungle, Walking Tall, Gridiron Gang etc., I thought he was a good actor. He'll never be recognised as a true actor due to his wrestling days but he has made the transition successfully.

Hes a fantastic actor. Hes probably fantastic at every single thing he ever tries. Just strikes me as one of those people. Saying that though his acting career has bombed big time. Only reason he is safely in retirement is because his acting career took off during the peak of insane wages for Hollywood actors ie. pre GFC

Ahh Carlito. Could have been huge but then he and the creative team got lazy and he fell in a hole.

I applaud him for getting out when he did. The wrestling industry has a shocking history of chewing people up and spitting them out as a broke, crippled (or worse) mess. Good on him for moving on before it was too late.

Crazy talk. Hogan, Rock and Austin will always be remembered as the elite.

sorry, but this is ridiculous. the fact we are talking about him, what. 3-4 years after his final wwe match proves hte is remembered and a legend.
Longevity, my final thoughts about Hogan are pale in comparison to when he was at his peak, everything he did after that was downhill. the rock is a smart man, get out when on top that way if the alternative doesn't work he could come back just as big. different comparison, but brock lesnar did the same albeit a different industry.
hogan is now being rememberd more for the fact his missus took off with a kid young enough to be his son and a joke of a reality show.
austin was in danger of the same thing, first couple of movie choices were very ordinary, haven't heard a peep recently, hopefully he's reloading and will come back in whatever medium better and the stone cold we remember.
kurt angle, unfortunately looking like a bit of a joke these days. this guy could've gone on to a little bit more given his personality and on screen charisma.
for you to mention the rock as not being memorable, well, just shows your ignorance and general lack of awareness.

I will remember The Rock on a good note for many years to come.

Compared to Triple H, i loved his 99 - 01 heel run, have not been able to really cop him since (other than the king of kings stuff he did in the lead up to his match with John Cena. That was hilarious :D.

For me over the years, while he may have been viewed as the best or most logical person to goto when they didn't have many other stars floating around, i couldn't stand him being the central wrestler. Funnily enough i went on to have the same issue with John Cena over the years.

But With HHH, it more or less felt like favoritism rather than he earned/deserved to be the main wrestler that they focused on all of the time. Also with the amount of title wins he kept on being given, it seemed to me, that he is trying to build/secure his place in wrestling history by eventually equaling or overtaking Ric Flairs overall tally. However most people would remember how he was able to do it (essentially marrying into the McMahon family).
