Sad that he sold out in the end. I think he understimates just how huge he could of become by just staying with wrestling and continuing the character. Would of literally became one of the most loved television characters of all time.
Seems to me that you dont really understand the wrestling industry at all. The industry is littered with wrestlers forced to wrestle night after night, taking bump after bump on ruined muscles because they are broke.
The Wrestler, the movie, is pretty much a bio of Jake the Snake Roberts and heaps of other wrestlers who are stuck in the industry. Look at Angle, as much as I love him, he's risking a broken neck every night in the ring, but he wont retire. Look at Hogan, he's desperate for a WWE payday yet again. Look at Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Mike Awesome etc etc.
