Prediction The Rolling Outrageous Claims Thread

I picked on a claim so will throw some out there:

-Geelong will win more clearances than their opposition in 2024.

-Dangerfield spending some time at half forward (not as a deep marking forward, as a roaming flanker) is a move that SHOULD be made, not avoided.

-Aiming for the flag every season is best and will keep our culture strong for another generation.

Maybe not super outrageous but I think a lot on here would take issue with some or all of these statements.

21 year old marking forwards don't tend to have stacks of score involvements, assists and so on.

He's a 4th banana forward (maybe 3rd banana now) who everyone acknowledges has plenty of areas to work on. He gets credited with already being a good scoring option as a young kid learning his craft. Which seems...fair.

I've seen some talk him up as a star and approaching All-Australian in the coming years. In NBA terms he is a specialist three point shooter who doesn't space the floor.

Reckon only one of those is truly outrageous. The other two are Good Takes.

Third talls are hard to assess as they develop. He's never going to quite be a key forward or a dynamic flanker, is he? But he can certainly work on both elements of his game. He might have nailed more factors from category A than B as of now.

To be anywhere near AA he would have to improve those, shall we say, Stevie J type attributes. That would be improving significantly on situations where the ball hits the deck.

His defensive running and pressure has to improve a lot as he's not a genuine KPF.

But...I think we should still be very happy with his potential and output relative to age/experience so far. A step up this season and we are looking at a very good year for a 21 year old.

After impressive VFL performances at full back and in the ruck, Mitch Knevitt to force Blitz out of the side as the Cats ‘anywhere man’ by round 4.

I was going to go with Collingwood to be 0-4 but that’s not looking so outrageous

Henry averages 0.3 Goals assists, 1.6 I50 a game (Both Bottom 33% by position), 0.6 Score Launches (rated average)

He averaged 3.6 effective kicks per game of which, 1.9 are goals (remember that 40 metre kicks to a 1 on 1 are considered effective). He is elite for marks I50 but for a leading mark, he doesn't get many marks around the ground 1.8 marks outside 50 per game. If he isn't finishing he isn't doing much
Cool but what's the average games played in that position?

A club Essendon Geelong will sign Tarryn Thomas end of year

Business opportunity in Geelong next year to open men self help and rehab centre given Cats are recruiting Thomas, Oliver and Smith
Oh god, that is absolutely not what I said. But hey, I think it's a 20% chance so may as well spin the roulette wheel

Tarryn Thomas will play for Geelong in 2025.

For bonus points. He will retain his North jumper number of... 26 😔

What are you even asking? the average games player for leading forward in 2023?
I'm just saying that his around the ground stats probably aren't quite in line with league medians but he's 21.

Your claim isn't really outrageous I think. Just that people are rating him on predicted future output and you're rating him on current output.
