The Rookie List

Not much happening on the Dees board at the moment so i decided to post an article on the MFC website.

If you can't be bothered reading it it is about the rookie list and how well melbourne has done out of it. Since 1997, Melbourne has elevated thirteen Rookie List players to the senior list, and six of those are still playing for the Club. These are Mark Jamar, Nathan Carroll, Aaron Davey, Daniel Ward, Russell Robertson and James McDonald.

That is a good list of players to come from the rookie list and when you add Cameron Bruce at like pick 70 the dees late selections have been great. I doubt any other club (other than West Coast) has done as well out of the rookie list as melbourne has.

I hope we rookie list Alwyn Davey. Heard that Fremantle will pick him up or something along those lines, I certainly hope it isn't true!

It doesn't sound like Alwyn Davey will last until the rookie list. By the sounds of things he'll go in the middle of the national draft.
We've had pretty good rookie list success too. Off the top of my head in 2003we got Bock, Mattner and Rutten in the one rookie draft.
