He has a screwed up back which still isn't fully healed. Look healthy Rose is right up there but until he proves he can lead a team to the finals I'd take Kobe over him, therefore leaving Rose just out of the top 5.
He led his team to the Conference finals. Dwight Howard got his Magic to the NBA Finals then just rolled over but it was a weak Eastern Conference at the time.

Dwight is a liability late in games because he cant hit free throws. Kobe is old and done. Rose easily better than both. But question marks as to whether he can come back with his knee.

He is down 2-3rpg and 3ppg this season. In some games he has had absolutely no impact whatsoever. His team is below .500 and he shoots 50% from the foul line. Nobody would take him in front of a fully fit Derrick Rose.

He's still playing injured, when Rose comes back from his ACL this year you'd think he wont be playing that well either. Give him a couple of months to get fully fit before writing him off.

He's coming off freaking back surgery and he's still pulling down 12 boards a game to go with 18 points and 2.5 blocks a game.

Doing that all while Kobe is chucking away taking 41 shots, it's impressive.

Eh.. i think he has been average this season.

Gohan, anything left in tank? Or still running on empty after referring to 2K ratings?

Gohan has a point...

...Yes I just agreed with him...

His OP states they are both similar, and they are basically a carbon copy of each other. Of course, I say this as in their physical attributes, scoring ability and similar stats base are almost identical (primary stats, not metric stats).

But that is where the similarities end in my opinion.

As for the Top 5 in the league for PG's... Well that'd be:

CP3, Rose, Parker, Westbrook and Rondo.

when discussing Point Guard, we need to define.

In the strictest terms, a point guard points. he directs traffic and orchestrates an attacking play within 24 seconds. he runs plays, delivers the ball to teh right players in the right areas. he is the general, the manager and needs to accommodate all egos on the court. everyone gets theirs when HE says.

parker and chuckbrook to me are score first guards, or shooting scoring guards (IMO shooting guard should be changed to scoring).

Derrick Rose is probably a scoring PG too. I think pure PG's who facilitate an offence are guys like Nash, Rondo and CP3. Im not sure what more is valued though. Nash and Rondo are great at finding players in the right spot, running a perfect offence but in a close game when you need a bucket, can you rely on them. No you cant. CP3 is a different animal as he can score and create his own shot.

Rose again is another type of player, but he is also a flat out scorer who could drop 50 on you at any moment.

I think CP3 and Rose are clearly the best PG's in the league. Westbrook is good but not even close to what Rose can do.

Rose is a scoring PG but his passing is very underrated and people mistake scoring PG's for SG's, if we ever get a legitimate SG next to him that can handle the ball a little as well as score the ball (which is looking like Belli) then I wouldn't be surprised to see Rose's assist numbers increase quite a bit.

He scores because he has to for us to win, although with his absence we have seen Deng take on a bigger role offensively and Jo has come on leaps and bounds as an offensive threat and now I think Marco Polo will be the absolute ideal fit next to Rose.

The biggest weapon for us should be the Rose/Boozer P'n'R and it's been very effective when they've gone to it but quite often Rose uses Jo as the roll man which is silly. The P'n'R is Booze's bread and butter while hustling and crashing the glass for tip in's and put backs.

Rose needs to improve his P'n'R quite a bit, if he does that not only does it bring Booze into the equation but we've got the shooters in Belli, Deng, Nate and Kirk to space the floor.

Westbrook is averaging 8.8 assists a game this year which is 1.1 more than Rose in his MVP year. He's also averaging 0.8 more rebounds, 1.0 more steals and 0.1 less turnovers. The only thing Rose has over him is 4.0 points (a lot but he's the number 1 option by far) and 0.3 blocks and 43.6 FG% compared to 40.7% and this is in Rose's MVP year so what this tells me is Westbrook is average maybe 1 point from being MVP. Rose's stats take an even bigger tumble when you compare it to Rose's last season (inb4 Rose is a warrior that played through injury or something)

If he had some help in the Finals which he played far better than Rose did when he was owned by LeBron in the 2011 Conference Finals he'd have already achieved far more than Rose has and ever will achieve. I wouldn't swap Westbrook for any PG in the league because he will be the #1 PG in the league and he's basically already there stats wise. Anyway, I'll enjoy watching Godbrook carve up Miami in 2 days and will enjoy hearing the excuses that Miami have a shit PG which made it easy for him.

I would post meaningful stats, however this is a troll thread.

I think Westbrook is very under-rated, people will call him a chucker but his aggressive play is how he plays, For the assists they will come playing with two very good shooters when your a point guard where your major weapon is dribble penetration, as is Rose, however Rose has much more tricks at the ring and much more comfortable scoring contested shots then Westbrook.

Westbrook is having a terrific season, however we're talking about the youngest MVP winner and a guy who was still basically a kid leading a team into a confrence final.

If Rose played with Durant. They would win the next 5 championships. Just saying.

I follow OKC and have followed the franchise since starting with the Sonics in 1994, but after reading this thread I am seriously considering changing teams.
Maybe you shouldn't be a fan if something as easy as one person's opinion would make you seriously consider changing teams. The Heat could use another supporter, you can always join them.

Derrick Rose; better scorer, passer, defender, leader and dresser. And so much more humble.

In closing:
John Wall> Russell Westbrook.
