Bit misleading because 2013 Todd Goldstein was a **** ton better than current Tristan Xerri.

But their pros and cons balance out in a head to head comparison more than I'd have guessed.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare anyone to Todd Goldstein.

There’s no issue with Xerri being worse than Goldstein. There’s a chance that every ruck that we name for the next 50 odd years won’t be as good as Goldstein.

I think Xerri has shown enough to deserve a year as the number one ruck option.

Having decent rucks doesn't mean success.
Geelong haven't had a decent ruck for years.
Collingwood aren't real strong either.
We need class all over the field and we are slowly getting there.

We can keep Goldy on the list and add further ruck depth to the list, without writing off X.

If this year has taught us anything, it's list managements "single source of failure" approach for positions across the ground, isn't a good one.

Goldi cant ruck a full year and cant ruck solo.
Xerri is in the team for relief support and not much else.

The reality is I can make a case that all of our current rucks Goldi, X, CCJ, Edwards and Free wont be on the list in 15 months time.
This is crisis level mismanagement of the list.

yeah but by the same token they dont have 3 ruck projects clogging their list, they have mobile ruck rover types that give them value in other areas,

Wonder if we turn Lloyd Meeks’s head from the Hawks - he came over thinking he’d be first choice but he’s fallen behind Reeves. Played VFL on the weekend.

Ideally, we get recruit Brodie Grundy and draft Archer Reid at year's end.

The next most draftable after our port pick is Will Green.

He is Nate Caddy's mate. His strength is his tap-work. He can also play full forward. He practises using his hips. He also knows how to stack shelves at Coles.

He is projected around Pick 25.

25. WILL GREEN

Position:
Ruck

Size: 204cm

Clubs: Northern Knights/Northcote

Elevated his standing after an excellent carnival for Vic Metro where he showed off his running power, mobility and competitiveness. Green’s best game came against Ethan Read and the Allies, working himself into the game and finishing with 11 disposals, four clearances and a game-high 30 hit-outs. A co-captain of the Knights, Green also has good ruck craft.

Here is about 30 seconds of him in action.

Not really seeing an issue. No, xerri isn’t as good as one of the best and most unique rucks in afl history.

Xerri was ok against Marshall who is a gun. He’s also almost 28 vs Xerri who is 24 and missed 4 months of footy.

Sure we need a young ruck to develop but im not sure it is the pressing concern being made out here.
