So... how was Spencer last night? I didn't see the game.
As expected; won a fair few taps, didn't send many (any?) of them near our players. Made a fair few tackles and was pretty physical. Skills remain atrocious though.

At least it wasn't just me that thought this.

Also had a brain fart when he got a free and handballed straight to a bloke with his man trailing him who was instantly tackled.

It's really concerning that an unskilled, honest battler like Spencer is being given a shot at the no.1 ruck spot over Gawn, who I had/have high hopes for...

Gawn should be playing, I don't care if his form is shit in the VFL. Gawn should be given ~5 games in the AFL.
He actually played alright yesterday. His marking was very good. Spencer was shit last night, directly cost us two goals. He also provided nowhere near the physical presence of hoped he would. For mine, the only thing he brings to the table is aggression, but he didn't bring it last night. If he isn't going to do that then he is of no value.

Hold on, is this bizarro day?

Good doctor I am not, quite, do stupid to keep championing Spencer if he plays like a git. I want him to be s poor mans mummy because we are a team of soft ***** but unfortunately he didn't swallow the angry pill last night.

That's exactly how I want Spencer to turn out to be but aside from being a big unit and having a tiny bit of aggro in him, he offers little else. I really want Gawn to succeed because he should have more weapons than Jamar and Spencer.

Bump.

Wondering if Max will get a run of games now and Roosy is making the decision on that.

I was a massive supporter of Max this preseason - I really thought he'd be our breakout player.

I was wrong and he hasn't done it yet, but I reckon he'll be given at least another 3 years from here.

This story has taken a really interesting twist now.

Spencer has played two very decent games as our no.1 ruck (surprising many people, myself included).

But now he gets dropped (probably), with Max given a chance ... I reckon Roos is giving them both a few opportunities to see who to stick with as the first option from next year.

So, in his first game of the year, Gawn added a fair bit to our midfield mix. I thought he dominated early but then ran out of puff a bit (understandably considering it was his first senior game of the year).

We're so much more dangerous with him in the team, I think it's obvious he's our best option going forward, if he can stay fit.

Gawn's first 20 minutes were off, well so was the whole team. But he really got going in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and was a key factor in us getting back into the game. Honestly i was very surprised to see people making the assumption Gawn would be dumped at seasons end, he is 24(?) we've put 5-6 years of development into him along with a couple of serious knee injuries. Ruckman hit their best at 26, we would be crazy to delist him.

I think Roosy is using this year as a bit of trial to see which combination of Gawn, Jamar and Spencer we will work going forward.

Gawn towelled Grundy in tapouts, meant we were really damaging out of the middle.

You guys should be all over Leuenberger. Free agent this year and wants the number 1 ruck role, unfortunately for him he's a fair bit behind Martin and we have West who can play the ruck/forward role a lot better than Leuey.

Also a bit of talk that Aish will be heading to the Dees if a trade can be worked out.
