Best thing is whoever wins out of us is a solid chance to win week after.. think you would rather play cats while i think we play well against hawks.

I reckon with the scalps you have claimed this year you would hold no fear coming up agaisnt anyone. Get over the first week and that "first finals win"and you could do damage.

Apologies however you will not make it past the first round. Just thought id let you know :P

:P Yeah you should beat us were no good vs middle rank teams ;) only against the best

Poor Brad Scott, the AFL Have rejected his idea of a North - Essendon final at Docklands. It's just like Brisbane playing a home final in the Gold Coast, he reckons. I wonder if they can close the roof?

I hope we don't get to complacent on the Carlton game after Collingwood lose (or don't score enough points) and finals is assured.

Would much prefer a North final, then play the loser of Cats / Hawks, then have to travel and play the loser of Swans / Freo / Port.

Looks like the review completed after 2012 is finally bearing fruit with regards to injury etc.

Going into the last round and the injury list is as follows:
Best 22
Heppell - good to go, or very very close to
Fletcher - Out for the season

Best 30
Kommer - season
NOB - season
Pears - season

VFL/Fringe
Browne - season
Hams - season

So basically only 1 player (Fletch) who I would consider as being a viable best 22 player will be unavailable for finals.. excellent job by the fitness staff.

And that is a finger injury so nothing could have been done to prevent that.

We have also reviewed how we bring players back from rehab too so they are prepared when they make a return to match day. It kind of sound slike we were wrapping them in cotton wool and giving them the rehab, then starting to train them again and bringing them back underdone. where as now they seem to be pushing htem harder in the rehab group. At least thats what it sound slike from the way they trained hibbo and Jobe.

I can't wait to play North at the G. We would be even money going into that game.

Our game plan has changed a lot since 2012, we aren't reliant on hand-balling and the run & carry that suits Etihad. Most of our big wins barring the Hawthorn game were on the road/away from Etihad; Sydney, Fremantle, Adelaide, West Coast.

Meanwhile we dropped plenty at home against Gold Coast, Carlton, Geelong and even Essendon back in Round 1.

I hope it's at the MCG, the atmosphere deserves it.

It will be; the AFL has confirmed it.

I reckon that Essendon and North have been the two biggest dick tease teams in the comp over the last few seasons. Both our teams have threatened to be successful but fallen short more than any other team. And this is why (apart from the fact that it's an elimination final) this game looms as such a huge matchup. One team will leave with some credibility going forward. But for the other it will be a very long summer indeed.

It's going to be an absolute cracker of a contest in front of 75,000 (big deal for us, hope our players don't get stage fright!). Good luck, hope you don't take it too hard when we smash you ;)

Also unlucky on Carlisle. Does this mean Hurley will play forward or what?

It is not 100% that Jake will miss the final. They are saying a low grade strain.. which is normally a 2-3 week injury.. however IF it is an elimination final.. then I would suggest that they will take the risk if he is above 80%.

Hibberd came back after missing only one game with a similar injury/niggle.

Hibberd came back after missing only one game with a similar injury/niggle.
And he played terribly in that game back.

Scott Lucas was on sen earlier talking about North and their improvement. Spoke about midfielders like Ziebell and Cunnington and their ability to go forward and kick 3 or 4 goals. Also spoke about Swallow's improvement lately. So just a small insight into some of the things we need to stop if we face them in a week and a half.

The 2 most important players for North when we play them will be Wells and Atley. Other than those two they're a slow side. Hocking destroyed Wells round 1, I'll back him to do so again. On Atley, I'd give that job to Howlett tentatively.

One of my mates said we can still miss the finals. I didnt believe him but he said if the Pies smash the Hawks (who may rest players), and we get well beaten by the Blues (they have nothing to lose and we have a few injury concerns) we can miss. ie;-

Collingwood beat Hawks by 90+
Carlton beat us by 90+
& Richmond beat Sydney

we are out. Very unlikely but it can happen.

Put a multi on it

Carlton could beat Essendon. Collingwood could beat Hawthorn.

Do you really think there's any chance Carlton will beat us by 90 and that Collingwood will beat Hawthorn by 90?

Ask yourself this- when was the last time Hawthorn lost by 90 points? To anyone?
